E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Goddamn Mother****ing COLLEGE ARGH!!!!
Posted on Tuesday, July 8 2008 @ 19:00:52 Eastern

Yeah, i'm ****ing pissed off right now if you didn't notice.

I got a letter from my college in the mail two days ago saying I cannot get my degree because my degree conferral has been denied. After four years of working my ass off, receiving cum laude in the field of Education/History, and taking tons of classes to support that, I can't get my degree.

The reason? I one credit course (known as a CDDS course, usually taught for a whole weekend from 8 AM to 6 PM Friday and Saturday) I didn't attend because I registered out of it back in February because I was too busy with writing up my work project for the colloquium class, as well as writing up numerous projects in other history fields.

So in other words, because they didn't get the memo that I registered out of the class for one ****ing credit, I am not getting my diploma.

I am so ****ing pissed off, partly because they wait until JULY 2nd to send the ****ing letter to me, and the other part is because this is essentially preventing me from finding a real job, with student loans looming in December and teaching positions hard to ****ing come by to begin with.

Right now I am waiting a response from the school as to how to rectify this, because I never went to the class, and what they told me to do, contact the professor whom I never met and ask them what I need to submit to a class I never attended or to change my Incomplete to a actual grade, since there is a grade for the class, is obviously not an option. And frankly, I am not going to attend a class like this just to get a diploma, because it would meant the spending of more money for a weekend.

I ****ing hate this.

Wow. At Columbia, you have to pass a swim test in order to graduate, supposedly because anyone would have attacked the college (in the 1780s), the students had to know how to swim across the Hudson River. Some people have never graduated from Columbia because of it. But this, this is just dickery.

Thats the New York school system for you, always obtuse in everything they do. The situation has been rectified, which is good, but now I have to wait until the end of August to receive my diploma, which puts a damper on finding a job until then, something I can't afford to wait for.

Just because you don't physically have a diploma doesn't mean you are not a college graduate. As long as you got the situation rectified and know the diploma is on the way then you should be all set to find a job. After I graduated, it took 10 weeks for me to actually get my physical diploma and I had already secured a job by that time.

Problem though is that New York likes hard evidence of, well, everything. You need your SS number, Teacher ID, fingerprinting done for each type of job, a drivers license, sometimes your actual birth certificate. Its a lot of bureaucratic stuff basically that makes a job hard in New York. What makes it worse is I don't have a secured job yet either, I am still searching and filling out paperwork.
