Just arrived at E3
Posted on Tuesday, June 2 2009 @ 01:37:17 Eastern

First: If there is any game you wish to see coverage on, you can write it in the comments below. If it's being shown on the show floor room, I will put forth my best ninja skills to get some hands-on time.

Just checked into the hotel with fellow GR writer and level designer Greg Damiano and his audio-tech friend Alex at the Stillwell Hotel. (Do not stalk us... please.) Duke and Chris should already have arrived... at one of the local bars, muttering about how much they hate, I mean, love E3 and all of its shenanigans.

Current Thoughts: EA announcing MMA is going to hurt... that is, if it doesn't have any fighters from the UFC brand. (I believe THQ has an exclusive contract with the UFC, including the rights to use the UFC fighters.) If it has Fedor Emelianenko and some Pride fighters, I could see it grabbing a few buyers. Countering UFC 2009 Undisputed is going to be an uphill battle for them, even though they are seemingly trying to take a bite out of the rising mixed martial arts pie. In any case, this allows us journalists to conjure up dualistic headlines like "UFC vs. MMA, OMGWTFLOL!"

Duke should be attending the major conferences. I do not envy him.

On my part, I will be in the trenches on the show floor room, trying to get my hands on whatever catches my eye and doesn't have twenty fanboys disguised as journalists lining up to play some game by Microsoft. But let's just see how "huge" this E3 is actually going to be compared to last year's tumbleweed-infested outing.

Wish me and my feet luck.
