Halo... It feels like it should be dead, but it continues on living and being good, despite being the same game put into a new graphics engine. ODST was a step in the right direction, and I think that they're expanding the gameplay beyond what the first three were, finally.
You honsetly have to look at the fan based for the Halo genre, rather than the actual game to see why it's lived as long as it has. We, as older gamers, look for substance, story-line, plot direction, character development, etc. The 10 - 15 year old boys that consists of the majority of their fan base just want the next big thing to "pwn" their "besties" in. That's its. I do honsetly feel that good development teams are being hindered by today's youth. Rather than making games with great stories... they just re-hash last year's FPS, give it a face lift and some cool abilities you didn't have before.
