Yesterday, while cleaning up my media center, I found my copy of Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus, which I bought sometime before Christmas last year. I had been pretty excited about this game pre-release, what with it being the first "traditional", albeit shorter than usual,...

UrbanMasque... Shilling up the place
Posted on Wednesday, September 18 2013 @ 18:47:10 Eastern

While at E3, I asked a significant number of gamers their thoughts on streaming and why they chose one platform rather than the other.  In essence, basically asking, “Why aren’t you streaming your games on Ustream?”  That question got a lot of answers, some legitimate relating to fanbase being already established while others were along the lines of Platform bashing. Most of the negative feedback was largely based on fanboyism and wasn’t really based on any concrete grievance.  For example, “because they suck” isn’t really a legitimate answer unless you can back it up – which almost all of them couldn’t. Don’t get us wrong, we get it you’re comfortable.  What we basically want to tell you is that you have a stable, modern, ubiquitous alternative, and in summary here are five simple keys to what we can offer you aside from the stability and reliability of our platform:

Channel customization:
  • Our Dashboard allows you place HTML based apps and widgets into your iframes and channel info.
  • If you don’t like the page layout, our widget reorder feature allows you to place PayPal Donations widgets and other content higher or lower on your page.
  • Your Ustream player, channel and embedded, will carry over channel branded watermarks that allow you to click through to linked pages.

Social integration:
  • Our Social Stream module allows your to communicate with your viewers on Ustream as well as across other social media platforms by pulling in specific Tweets addressed to a Twitter Username/Hashtag, as well as similarly linked Facebook interactions.
  • Not to mention your content can be visible across Facebook & Twitter

Easy VOD Management
  • Managing your recorded videos are simple on Ustream, easily allowing you to trim, upload, and transfer to YouTube.

Free Software Based Encoder
  • Our in-house application, Ustream Producer, allows you to easily stream content to your channel using your basic laptop/desktop with the only limitation being the input slots on your device and your bandwidth.
  • Ustream Producer recognizes a number of capture devices as well as its Screen capture capabilities.
  • Download Producer and try it out for free at Ustream.tv/Producer

Live & VOD Metrics
  • On of the great features of Ustream is its Live Analytics Console, found inside the dashboard.  This allows you to see who is viewing your content, how many people, what devices they are viewing from, and in what regions they are located.

We acknowledge that not everyone is at the same level or technical expertise in reference to streaming, and will have varying experiences but at the very least check out my page in order to get an idea of what’s possible (  http://www.ustream.tv/urbanmasquegr ) and Tweet at me with questions you might have or if you feel the need to call me out on anything I’ve said. I can be reached here @UrbanMasque. In the mean time try our platform out.  Again, we understand that you want to go with the flow and fit in, but maybe its time you stood out.
