Morning starts
Posted on Wednesday, October 17 2007 @ 06:45:20 Eastern

So I wake up this morning at 7:20 thanks to my alarm clock and then again at 7:30 (I know what I'm like so I set at least two alarms), I'm thinking to myself "it's too early to get up, I can get another fifteen minutes in and still be at my lecture in time" so I set a countdown timer for fifteen minutes and then lay back down. I open my eyes thinking I'd better get up and look at my phone "8:28", considering that I had a morning lecture at 9am and it takes me 5-10 minutes to walk to the room I'm sure you'll agree I was accurate in my assertions. So I scramble to get dressed, get my contact lenses in and spray copious amounts of deodorant over myself in the absence of the shower I probably wouldn't have attempted to have anyway (problems with the water boiler, another rant for another day) and off I run to my lecture looking like a greasy tramp in a Quiksilver cap. I make it to the lecture quite easily and plonk myself down next to a friend ready to fall asleep 'learning' about corporate manslaughter when everyone detects an unusual odour. Like most anal excretions we figured the smell would subside after a minute or so, cue five minutes later and new arrivals are still turning their noses up at this ever increasing stench. Of course I, with my lack of my morning shower, was becoming more and more paranoid and I did learn something today, it's not fun being trapped in a small and crowded room with a potent and lingering fart after having missed a morning shower. It was probably a sneaking suspicion before today but at least it's a concrete fact now.

2nd Draft: Had you seen the comment I was just about to leave... Anyway, in my experience, deodorant only makes bad smells smell worse. What where you thinking?

Ah, what is worse is this connotation people tend to have that if you don't take a shower for one day, your suddenly the most hideous creature that carries the burden of the most foul stench known to existence. Often times, people don't smell from that...Unless of course they are doing physical activity through out the day or they are in constant heat of some sort. It's odd though..I know the days I forget or rush out the door I find myself in constant suspicion, "Wait, am I okay? Do I smell alright?" Despite not doing anything really physical in a day. Ahh, paranoia.
