E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Set for a while

So I just bought an HDTV. Samsung 22" with component, SCART, DVI, VGA and HDMI in, I know to many all that crap I just said probably won't mean a lot and in truth it's only the component and SCART that truly matter to me right now but HDMI could come in handy later. Anyway, how has my experience with the SyncMaster 225MW been so far? To put it simply, great. I'll admit that at first TV quality was less than satisfactory but after changing the settings to 'Wide' instead of 'Auto Wide' it's much better, and considering I'm using an HD display with an SD input (meaning it has to increase the size of the image to fit the screen) it's pretty good. Where I'm truly happy though is with the 360 image. I've only played Halo 3 briefly and Assassin's Creed, both at 720p but the image was beautifully crisp and, after playing on a shitty 15" CRT for a few days, a brilliant breath of fresh air. Urgh, I just saw a disadvantage of having a large(ish) TV though, the Lacoste guy's arse plastered over it, credit where it's due that was good timing by the advert but I'd prefer not to see it. Back to where I was though, I haven't tried any DVDs yet but I'm watching Demolition Man so that will have to wait. I almost wish I own Call of Duty 4 so I could take a look at those amazing graphics on this amazing TV.

I was using a 21" CRT before! Maybe I should get that $70,000 103" Plasma that's knocking around?
