Keep your critter as close to the middle of the screen during the game. If you wind up too close to either edge, a fiddly tap could send your panda off to an untimely death.
When you recruit a friendly critter to help during the levels, there's no set way of keeping track over which creature is the original and which is the friend. This means that if one dies, you'll take control of the other, so plan your strategy - and sacrifices - accordingly.
You can only destroy the nano-bots when their mouths are open. Often, paying too close attention to this detail will compromise your ability to steer your critter around the terrain of each level. It's safer to avoid the nano-bots rather than destroy them.
