Hints

Avoid Bomb Mutants - they're bigger than the rest. Just drive around them.
Remove Mutants From Your Car - darker ones with the exclamation points that appear over their heads when you're nearby wanna catch your ride. To keep the vehicle mutant free, graze the sides of abandoned cars and buses to knock them off. You can also prevent mutants from hitching a ride by running them over head-on.
Turn At The Right Time - don't wait too long to swipe left or right to turn in those respective directions.
Upgrade To A Better Vehicle - an obvious choice as you'll definitely benefit from upgrading to one of five additional rides, all of which feature superior handling and armor.

Coin Bag - Increase to 50 (or more) coins.
Driver Weapon - Medium caliber pistol.
Nitro Boost - to seven (or more) seconds.
Turret - Light machine gun.
Shock - Medium (or higher) capacitors.
Repair - Increase repair chance.

Buy Items

Bounty Hunter (20 Gold) - Triples coins for kills.
Revive (30 Gold) - Continue after death.
Super Bomb (20 Gold) - Destroys everything.
Headstart (1,000 Coins) Start 1.5 miles ahead.
Super Headstart (5,000 Coins) - Start three miles ahead.
