Assassin's Creed III Encyclopedia of the Common Man Walkthrough

Version 1.0 by

More Assassin's Creed III Cheats and FAQs:

The Encyclopedia of the Common Man may seems like a lot of work, but this easy walkthrough will allow you to tally it towards your overall synchronization rate and move forward with your completion of Assassin's Creed III

You cannot complete the Encyclopedia without gathering all possible residents of the Homestead, so make sure to do this as you "scan" activities to add to the encyclopedia.

To "scan" enter precision aiming mode and move the reticle over your scanning target. If your subject is gold in Eagle Vision, that means they are doing a suitable activity for scanning. If blue, this is not the case.

Rather than drive yourself crazy following these virtual people around all the time, check in with them at random while playing the game and see if the activities they're engaged in can be "scanned."

Inhabitants - Possible Activities to Scan

Big Dave (Blacksmith) - Adding a new metal ring / sharpening tools / horseshoeing / splitting a log / unloading a cart

Lyle White (Doctor) - with a client / reading newspaper / taking measurements / picking herbs

Warren and Prudence (Farmers) - keeping bees / shoveling hay / milking cows / making butter / plucking chicken / baking bread

Oliver and Corinne (Inn) - changing bottles / butchering pig / crushing apples / idle behind bar / stomping grapes

Myriam (hunter) - trading pelts / sharpening tools / skinning a deer / setting traps

Norris (miner) - mining / sharpening tools / sifting rocks

Ellen (tailor) - with client / sewing / trading pelts / taking measurements

Godfrey and Terry (lumber) - loading lumber / reading newspaper / sawing / splitting log / unloading cart / playing bowls

Lance (woodwork) - inspecting fence / planning wood / sawing / sharpening tools / repairing a beam

All of these characters have missions tailored to their roles on the Homestead as well. Be sure to complete these and use them as opportunities to check on the inhabitants for scanning.
