   II. USING THE GUIDE

Within this Game Guide, each new section for the Walkthrough will be spaced
out. For example, "Agrabah" will be written as "A g r a b a h". You will be
able to skip all the stuff in between and head straight for this section if
   you do the following.

INTERNET EXPLORER / MOZILLA FIREFOX USERS

= Select 'Edit', located on the toolbar at the top of your
          screen.

= Select 'Find, or simply hold Ctrl, then hit the F Key.

= Input the name corresponding to the specific section you are having
          difficulties with, then select 'Find'.

	NETSCAPE USERS

= Select 'Edit', located on the toolbar at the top of your
          screen.

= Select 'Find in This Page', or simply hit Ctrl, then the
          F Key.

= Input the name corresponding to the specific section you are having
          difficulties with, then select 'Find'.

With the amount of e-mails I've been receiving regarding the same issue, an
enormous amount of improvements were made to several sections of this guide.
These changes were made to assist people with these problems in much better
coverage. I've removed several references to treasure chests throughout the
guide and placed them all within the Treasure Chest section, instead of the
   Walkthrough.

If you are looking to read information in a particular section in this Game
   Guide, such as "Agrabah", type "A g r a b a h" in the search parameters and
   select 'Find Next'.

If the name of the location consists of more than one word, add each of the
spaces between the letters as usual, and then add three spaces between each
word. This is much less confusing than it sounds.

Remember, because of the game mechanics in Kingdom Hearts 2, there may be a
few occasions where you will be visiting the same place more than once. For
example, when returning to the Olympus Coliseum for the second time, you'll
   type "O l y m p u s C o l i s e u m", and then press 'Find' twice, rather
   than once.

   III. WALKTHROUGH

Start Kingdom Hearts II by selecting 'New Game'. You will then be prompted
to select a mode of difficulty. Selecting one mode over another increases
the difficulty of enemy encounters. There are three selections you will be
   able to choose from.

   O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O     O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O

   O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O     O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O

Beginner Mode is recommended to players that are new to the Kingdom Hearts
series, or to those who are not yet familiar with the mechanics to Kingdom
Hearts II. It doesn't present much of a challenge, so you can play through
   the story with ease.

   | Standard Mode | | Difficulty: Medium |
   O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O     O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O

Standard Mode is recommended to players that are familiar with the Kingdom
Hearts series, and are looking for the same kind of challenge the original
   Kingdom Hearts presented.

Proud Mode is recommended to players that are hardcore, and looking for an
interesting challenge. This isn't recommended to people who are unfamiliar
   with the Kingdom Hearts mechanics.

After the initial cutscene, approach Hayner, Olette, and Pence by the Armor
Shop. You will then be led through a series of tutorials designed to assist
you with the game mechanics in Kingdom Hearts II.

Begin by speaking to the woman at the Accessory Shop. Continue the tutorial
by reading through the on-screen instructions until you encounter Seifer in
   the Sandlot.

This battle can assist you through several basic commands of enemy battles.
There are two gauges you need to take note of in this battle. First is the
health gauge, which displays your current health. This battle is over when
    you run out of health.

The blue gauge displays your current Magic Power (MP). Magic abilities can
display one of two different colors. When it's displayed in white, it will
consume a patial amount of your magic power. When the ability is displayed
in orange, it will consume all of your magic power.

Another returning feature is the Lock-On command. This is used by pressing
the R1 Button. This command will be used to locate your target and display
remaining health information. After this battle has begun, start attacking
    Seifer.

Seifer will use two main attacks on you. He will either strike you with an
aerial attack, or several consecutive attacks. Seifer's aerial attack will
cause quite a bit of damage, but can easily be avoided.

    O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- O

After defeating Seifer, you'll arrive in the woods. Chase the Dusk into the
Old Mansion. Approach the Dusk and select 'Capture'. Following the cutscene,
you will be forced to battle the Dusk.

   O =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= O

You'll be unable to attack the Dusk just yet, because you do not wield the
power to destroy Heartless or Nobodies. Regardless, begin by attacking the
Dusk and use the Reversal command to avoid any unnecessary damage.

This battle introduces you to the Reaction command. It's a command that is
activated by pressing the triangle button. Use this command every time you
see a triangle-shaped prompt appear on the enemy, or above the command bar.
Use the Reversal command as it displays on-screen, and start attacking the
Dusk until you have defeated it.

Lock onto the ball and keep it afloat using Aerial Combos. Once you strike
it into the air, you cannot allow it to fall. Once it's in the air, run at
the ball, and then strike it to keep it afloat. Watch it's shadow for much
better results. Should the ball be too low to perform an Aerial Combo, you
will need to stand beneath it, and then attack it once it comes into reach.
You will lose points once the ball has reached the ground.

   STATION OF SERENITY

Similar to the into in the original Kingdom Hearts, select either the Sword,
the Shield, or the Staff. Your selection will effect how Sora will level in
   Kingdom Hearts II.

The Sword Raises Strength. Increases Attack Power.

The Staff Raises Intellect. Increases Mana and Magic Power.

The Shield Raises Defense. Increases Attack Reduction.

Following your selection, you will battle three Dusks, receiving a Keyblade
to do so. The Keyblade is a weapon capable of destroying enemies that other
weapons cannot. Remember to use the Reversal command, as the ability should
definitely come in handy throughout Kingdom Hearts II.

After the battle, open the nearby treasure chest to create a door. Continue
   into the Station of Calling.

Vivi is quite evasive to most of your physical attacks. He jumps back, and

Vivi's third attack will charge at you with a horizontal swing, which will
then be followed by a massive ground impact. Pay close attention to Vivi's
moves, and strike after he has made an attempt to attack you. You might be
able to score at least two combos on Vivi during this time.

Vivi's final attack will cause him to levitate into the air, then start to

Axel is quick, and dual-equipped. After he kneels, move out of the way, as
he will quickly charge towards you and strike you down with a strong fiery
attack from behind. However, this leaves him wide open for an attack.

Axel's second attack is prompted when he shouts, "Don't make me mad!". The
attack sets Axel ablaze, rushing towards you, and then dealing a string of
attacks. One strategy that works against Axel is to jump into the air once
he begins his string of attacks. At that point, turn around and attack him
    from behind.

A second strategy is to push Axel into a corner and unleash several combos
on him, though it's risky because Axel can just as easily send you in that
    same corner.

This battle can play out one of two ways. If you win, you will receive the
Champion's Belt. If you lose, you will receive a Medal. Setzer is a decent
challenge, and quite quick, but will often rest to catch his breath.

Setzer does his best to provoke you, which gives you a good opportunity to
attack. Finish with a combo before moving off to the side, because he will
    quickly regain his focus.

You'll want to attack Setzer either from the side, or from behind, because
Setzer will counter-attack whenever he manages to block your attacks.

Though Setzer may be slow, he has two attacks that are quite powerful. His
aerial attack, and his consecutive jab attack, both being rather difficult
to avoid. Keep moving, and strike once he leaves himself open.

Proceed through the south-western door to initiate a cutscene. Head through

   be over.

Once you are outside the entrance of the Old Mansion, head back to Twilight
   Town to initiate a cutscene.

After speaking to Hayner, Pence and Olette, head to the Sandlot to initiate
a cutscene with Seifer. This will eventually allow you to participate in an
upcoming Struggle match. Head to the Station Plaza and defeat the Nobodies.

Speak to Donald inside Central Station once you are ready to leave. This is
your last chance to do anything in Twilight Town you might have missed. You
will not have access to Twilight Town for quite some time.

After exiting Central Station, you'll arrive at The Tower. Continue towards
the entrance to encounter Pete. After defeating the Heartless, you'll enter
   inside the tower.

This area is quite basic. Proceed up the stairs, defeating the Heartless in
the Star Chamber and Moon Chamber. Once inside the Sorcerer's Loft you will
encounter Yen Sid. After speaking to Cid, open the chest to receive a Tower
   Map.

Read through each chapter of the book on the table, then speak with Yen Sid
once again. Continue to the Wardrobe and speak to Red Fairy to receive your
new outfit. Return to the Sorcerer's Loft to access the Gummi Ship.

Morale plays an important role in the Land of Dragons. Each enemy that you
defeat in a scripted battle will drop orbs, needed to boost morale. If the
"Morale Gauge" runs empty, you must restart the battle.

To boost morale, defeat enemies quickly, or collect the orbs that drop. It
is necessary to come out victorious in a battle. You will lose morale over
a set period of time, or when your party takes too much damage.

You'll have two objectives in this battle. Your top priority is to protect
the Palace Gates, so whenever you see Heartless, swarming near the palace
entrance, stop attacking Shan-Yu and start attacking the Heartless. You'll
be able to restore the stability of the gate by collecting orbs dropped by
    the Heartless.

Hayabusa will make several attempts to move you away from the palace. You
can't really avoid this, so just run back towards the palace. Don't worry
about attacking Hayabusa, as Shan-Yu will just as easily send it back out
    within moments.

Once the Heartless have been defeated, turn your focus to Shan-Yu. He will
strike you several times consecutively, so it's rather difficult to attack
him. Your best bet would be to clash weapons, and then perform a Breakdown
Reaction command. You'll need to press the triangle button repeatedly once
    you clash weapons.

When Shan-Yu has almost been defeated, he will enter his second phase that
prompts several more powerful attacks. Though he doesn't seem to spawn any
Heartless, wait for an opening, rather than just rushing in to attack. The
battle will be over when either Shan-Yu is defeated or the palace gate has
    been destroyed.

The Shadow Stalker has one of several attacks, difficult to explain. It is
by no means an easy battle.

First, it has an electric attack similar to Hades' Fire Spin attack, known
in the original Kingdom Hearts. The only way that you can avoid this is by
running around in the direction it's spinning. It may also attempt to suck
you into to darkness, and then spit you back out. Fortunately, it will not
    deal too much damage.

It will hide quite often, so you will constantly need to press the Lock-On
command. At some point in the battle, the Shadow Stalker disappears into a
pillar against the wall, prompting you to attack the one filling with dark
energy. Approach this pillar and start attacking it.

Once the Reaction command appears, release the Shadow Stalker, then attack
it once again. When the Shadow Stalker moves to the chandelier, strike the
chanelier until the Reaction command appears. Push the Reaction command to
    release the Shadow Stalker.

Similar to the Stealth Sneak, the Dark Thorn remains invisible quite a bit.
If it manages to throw you while stealthed, use a nearby column to counter
with a Reaction command. Use the Drive command once the Shadow Stalker has
    transformed into the Dark Thorn.

This isn't too challenging, you just need to be quick at defeating all the

each time the "Wild Dance" Reaction command becomes available, you'll need

Part one in this battle requires you to protect Megara while battling Pete
and the Heartless. Use the Bat Cry to defeat the Hook Bats, while you keep
    a close eye on Megara.

Megara will keep her distance from Pete and the Heartless, calling out for
help each time Heartless begin to swarm around her. When this happens, you
need to quickly eliminate the Heartless near Megara. At that point, you'll
    need to begin attacking Pete.

As clumsy as Pete might seem, he's no pushover. Start attacking Pete until
he creates a shield saying, "Pete's invincible!".

He means exactly what he says. Pete cannot be harmed as long as his shield
is active. During this time, Pete will summon more Heartless that you must
defeat to protect Megara. Collect the orbs that Pete drops to lower "Meg's
    Gauge".

You won't need to defeat Pete at this time. You will just need to keep the
Heartless away from Megara until the battle concludes with an interruption.
At that point, you will return to The Lock.

The second battle requires defeating Pete within two minutes. Don't attack
the Heartless, as you don't have that much time. Get a target lock on Pete
and transform to Valor Form. Remember, you cannot attack Pete while he has
    his shield active.

There's several Bolt Towers in the Audience Chamber that will distract you
from completing your objective. You must escort Queen Minnie to the throne
while protecting her from the Heartless.

Group the Bolt Towers together and have Queen Minnie cast Faith. This will
make escorting Queen Minnie much easier. You do not need to defeat each of
the Bolt Towers. Simply escort Queen Minnie to the throne.

asked to visit Merlin at Hollow Bastion. Return to Hollow Bastion, and then
   visit Merlin.

   cutscene, proceed to Timeless River.

The other Pete will perform a series of attacks prompted each time he says,

most common attack, so don't worry too much about it. Remember, you cannot

Port Royal can be somewhat tiresome, because each battle requires that you

Use the cannons to strike at the Black Pearl, but don't stray too far away
from defeating the pirates that board the Interceptor.

Donald and Goofy might make this battle more difficult than it needs to be,
mainly because they will just attack a pirate when they see it, instead of

You can use the Firagun or Blizzagun commands to send either opponent into
the other. This works well, as the Blizzard Lord is weak against fire. The
Volcanic Lord is also weak against blizzard, so it works both ways.

After enough damage has been dealt to the Volcanic and Bliizard Lord, they
despawn into much smaller versions of themselves, which can be defeated in
one hit. Otherwise, the Volcanic Lord and Blizzard Lord are bote painfully
easy, so you shouldn't have any problems with them.

Be sure you equip your aerial abilities once the battle begins. The Prison
Keeper will attack mostly where you are unable to reach him, so either use
Curly Hill, or wait until the Prison Keeper comes into range.

Cast Comet when available, then spam the Reaction command while heading up
Curly Hill. While the Prison Keeper is being occupied by Comet, you'll see
several openings to attack the Prison Keeper.

When the Prison Keeper swallows you, it will be temporarily invincible, so
cast your "Inside Combo" Reaction command. You will score several critical
strikes, prompting the Prison Keeper to spit you back out.

The Prison Keeper casts three forms, called by Lock, Shock, and Barrel. If
it casts Fire on you, Guard with your Keyblade to reflect the attack. When
it reverts to one of it's another form, you can only guard it's attacks by
    casting Reflect.

Unequip Donald's "Comet" before you proceed into Santa's Workshop. It will
only cause unnecessary problems throughout the battle. You'll need to keep
moving on the conveyor belt while using the "Fore!" Reaction command. This
knocks each package onto Oogie Boogie's platform.

You need to keep moving along the conveyor belt throughout the battle. You
cannot stop, otherwise the spikes will sap your health very quickly.

Oogie Boogie cannot be attacked while on the platform above, but he cannot
directly attack you either. There are three controls that Oogie Boogie has
access to while on the platform above the conveyor belt.

First, Oogie brings down a large glove that will crush anything below. The
glove starts at one end of the conveyor belt, then moves towards the other
end. If you can manage to sneak past it, you can completely avoid it.

Second, Oogie sends out several packages that look similar to the ones you
knock up to the platform he's standing on. This will only occur when Oogie
is over a different conveyor belt than you.

Each time Oogie Boogie moves over a different conveyor belt, you will need
to approach the entry point. Locate the conveyor belt Oogie Boogie is over,
then press the Reaction command corresponding to Oogie Boogie's location.

Oogie falls onto the conveyor belt once enough packages have landed on his
platform. At this point, you have a short time to attack him, so switch to
Valor Form and unleash your strongest attacks.

After Oogie Boogie returns to the platform above, the conveyor belt speeds
up dramatically. Spam the jump button and jump away from the spikes behind
    you to avoid unnecessary damage.

Oogie's third attack brings a bit of a challenge when attempting to strike
the packages onto the platform above. When Oogie reaches low health, he'll
cast several bolts of lightning to strike the conveyor belt. They can move
along the conveyor belt, but are quite easy to avoid.
