The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

SimCity (2013) City Buildings: Fire Department Reference Guide

City Buildings - Fire Department Reference Guide

Once you've plopped down a Town Hall, you will have access to the expensive but necessary Fire Station. You definitely don't want to be caught off-guard when a fire breaks out and you have no Fire Station around to help, since fires can spread and several Sims might die. This is especially concerning if you have a mining town or have a lot of high-density industrial buildings. Also, opt to place the fire department in a central location so that the fire truck doesn't need to travel too far to reach fires.

Name Description Prerequisites Max. Modules Cost Hourly Cost
Fire Station Stop the spread of fire across your city! Improve coverage by adding more fire trucks. Response Time: 12 minutes. Town Hall N/A $20,000 $400
Fire Station Fragpole Wouldn't be a Fre Station without a flagpole, right? Hopefully the pole doesn't confuse any of the firefighters into sliding down it... Fire Station 1 $100 None
Fire Station Sign It's nice to have a sign, for when you're running around in a panic looking for the Fire Station. Fire Station 1 $200 None
Fire Alarm Wake those sleepy firefighters from dreams of Dalmatians jumping over fences. Fire trucks are dispatched twice as fast! Fire Station 1 $3,000 $75
Fire Station Garage Attach this garbage to your Fire Station and gain an additional fire truck. And maybe your firemen can start a garage band during their time off? Fire Station 4 $15,000 $200
Large Fire Station This Fire Station is hot stuff! Go all out with better trucks, larger fire coverage, the addition of hazmat for those stubborn industrial fires, and a fire helicopter! That's right, we said helicopter. Response Time: 6 minutes. City Hall, Department of Safety N/A $85,000 $1,700
Fire Station Flagpole Wouldn't be a Fire Station without a flagpole, right? Hopefully the pole doesn't confuse any of the firefighters into sliding down it... Large Fire Station 1 $100 None
Large Fire Station Sign It should be pretty obvious from the sirens where the Large Fire Station is, but the sign makes it more official. Large Fire Station 1 $200 None
Fire Dispatch Tower This state-of-the-art dispatch tower communicates over satellite. Speeds up response time of all your fire vehicles! Fire trucks are dispatched twice as fast! Large Fire Station 1 $10,000 $525
Large Fire Station Garage With all the capabilties of a regular fire truck, the hook and ladder that comes with this one extends its coverage by quite a bit. Large Fire Station 4 (one comes with base) $15,000 $400
Fire Marshal  Office The fire marshal drives around the city, visiting homes, factories, and shops. Places the fire marshal visits are immune to fire for several days. This suppresses the risk of fire within your city! Large Fire Station 4 $20,000 $500
Hazmat Garage This hazmat truck puts out heavy industrial fires caused by hazardous materials. Without it, hazmat fires will burn unchecked! Large Fire Station, University with School of Engineering, Complete Research Project at University 4 $40,000 $250
Fire Helipad Put out fires in a blink of helicopter blade! Make sure you have enough Water Towers. This one uses a lot of water! Large Fire Station, Airport in city or region 4 $60,000 $1,400
