City Specialization - Mining Reference Guide

Mining is perfect for cities with large deposits with ore and coal, as they sell for a huge amount of profit. If you want even more money, you can build the Smelting Factory to manufacture metal and alloy towards higher profit and Great Works. Also consider the Metals HQ and Trade Depot/Trade Port to increase your profitability. If you want mining to be your city's specialization, then you need to make sure that you have a Hospital and Emergency Center to deal with the injuries and effect of air pollution on your citizenry.
