Gears of War 4 Reignites PC vs Consoles Debate With Crossplay

Gears of War 4 largely flew under the radar this season, fighting for a taste of the spotlight being thoroughly devoured by the likes of Battlefied 1, Infinite Warfare, Titanfall 2 and Overwatch. But two months after release, it's finally giving people something to talk about, and boy are they talking about it.

This weekend, The Coalition is testing out crossplay for PC and Xbox One players. This puts Gears of War 4 one step ahead of the competition, notably Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare which did not support crossplay even between Windows Store and Steam versions. But perhaps more important, it has reunited one of the oldest debates in gaming: PC vs Consoles.

While some of the conversation has been playful and broad, becoming a discussion of which platform is better, much of the discussion has gravitated toward the skill level of each type of player. Are console players destroying PC nerds, or is the PC Master Race earning its reputation?

Reports are mixed, but wherever there is a losing party, there is going to be a bevy of excuses. From the PC side, it's "well you have aim assist!"
