Nick Tan Goes To Korea: A Picture Gallery

Posted on Tuesday, November 13 @ 17:07:12 Eastern by

These Korean beers cost between 1,260 and 1,320 won. Or in US dollars, about a buck-fifteen.

Whoa, how has this not been purchased yet? And only $30? What the hell, Korea?

See, guys? Korean department stores WILL stock Xbox 360 titles, as long as they're next to the doggie chew toys.

Ah, so that club in Deus Ex: Human Revolution really does exist?

Oh, and there just happens to be an Epic Games party down here. You don't say? And free alcohols? Ah,
so this is where all their profits go?

Mmaybee I'mma drunc, butt thhos ghirs shur'er haute.

Got to the airport on time. Don't know how. Need to cure hangover. I've got just the thing!

Awesome. I would love to travel, but I feel like I'd just end up being an unintentional ******* the whole time.

Hey nick! Do they still have PC rooms over there? And do they still host those local hood Starcraft tourneys?

Also... ya tried authentic Bulgogi yet?

Haven't tried authentic bulgogi, though they did have authentic beef off the bone at the traditional Korean restaurant. I also had soondubu, their spicy soft tofu soup which I wish I could have for lunch every day of the week.

Not sure if I had bulgogi specifically, but I did have beef off the bone at the traditional restaurant. Delicioso.

About 20% of the people I met in Korea knew English pretty well. If it was a food court restaurant, they just popped out an English for me. The other 80% just stared at me.

Looks like you had a good time man. Last time I was in South Korea I watched a small 5 foot tall Korean lady at the airport go off on her subordinate a 5'10 200+ pound guy then throw a clip board at him. He humbly picked up the clipboard bowed his head in disgrace and fear and handed her back the clip board hoping she wouldn't throw it at him again. The cultural differences are interesting. Also, fried chicken from KFC was better at the Seoul airport.

Heh, she probably said "Pick this up." and then threw the clipboard at him.

The last dedicated arcade I've seen is Pinball Pete's in Ann Arbor, MI. And I think it does okay. I haven't been back in over a year, so I'm not positive, but I used to go drink and stumble in to waste money on playing pinball and The Simpsons. Oh, and the occasional House of the Dead 2.
