Tell GR: Buy, Try, or Die? [March 2013]

Already pre-ordered SimCity. Haven't read much about it except that it looks to be good, so I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Sometimes I think we games enthusiasts know too much about a game before it is released. Then again, buying a game without any knowledge of it is a rather costly risk when compared to doing to same with movies or something.

I'll buy sim city, try bioshock, but gears of war needs to crawl in a hole and ****ing die. Absolutely hate gears. It's okay as a game, but it's the impact it's had on gaming's future that I loath it for. For one thing, it's ruined dead space, it's mutilated resident evil far beyond repair, and there are waaaaay too many clones of this overrated shooter being released nowadays. Could not be less excited about a game being released. Any game

All Gears is, is a overhyped generic third person shooter that has reached god like status and I don't know why. It doesn't do anything new, or revolutionary. It's ridiculous how many people salivate over a new Gears release. It's just copy and paste with some minor improvements in the graphics, and multiplayer. People your getting conned out of money for buying the same crap everytime. Halo was guilty for doing it since 2(ODST anyone?) same graphics engine only spiced up to look next gen(which they failed miserably) finally with the release of Reach there was a new engine, polished up gameplay, and it was fantastic. It was a true next gen Halo game. Halo 4 continued this climb up and that was one of best games I have played. If anything I have more faith now in another Halo game than Gears.

You do realize that Gears fans probably say the same thing about your beloved Killzone, right?

And that's their opinion. Im not going to attack them, like it seems you have me. Everyone has a right to their opinion. If their are Gears fans out there that hate Killzone, more power to them.

And another thing. It pisses me off when everyone on here who gets mad at what I say attacks my avatar picture, calls me a fanboy. Look, I didn't know when signing up on here that there was prerequisite on my avatar should be. So I guess if I would put Master Chief as my avatar, I would be labeled a Halo fanboy? I put a Helghast solider as my avatar because, I like Killzone. My user name reflects my love for Metal Gear Solid, and Killzone. The only reason you have the gall to slam me is because you hide behind a computer monitor and a keyboard. You probably wouldn't have the gusto to say it to my face. I wish people would act more civil on the internet, and be respectful of their opinions. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. I'm tired of getting slammed for my opinions.

Opinion slamming has become a pet peeve of mine. Try having one of your closest friends constant talk down to you about your taste in music. At one stage, I **** you not, he actually uttered the phrase "I will never respect your opinions of music". And he said it very smug like. And we were in a ****ing band at the time!!

It would be more believable you think everyone has a right to their own opinion if you hadn't condescendingly told people who like a game you don't that you're so much more astute than they that you've decided to inform them they're being scammed and, unlike you, aren't sly enough to know it.

Talk about being a victim of internet hate all you want, you get no sympathy from me.

oh no, not again. they did this last year, I think. all the games at the start and end of the year with nothing much in between

I have SimCity pre-ordered. What I've seen looks good, and there hasn't been a good SimCity game in years. Other than that, I don't expect to be buying much of anything else in the near future.

I agree completely, although I'm a fan of halo I have to admit that I was underwhelmed by halo 3 because of how it was just too similar to halo 2. Gears of war hasn't changed a bit since the first game, I really don't see what the appeal is beyond the violence. Want a good third person shooter? Buy a ps3 and play uncharted for Chrissakes, it's faaaaar superior. I actually feel sorry for people who can only play gears because they don't have a ps3 to play better exclusives

I have a ps3 and have played all 3 uncharted games and I never really got into the multiplayer aspect. It felt lacking in some way that I can't explain in words.
I think they are both great games, but gears just has the multiplayer that is hyper addicting.

Yeah Gear's multiplayer isn't too bad, but I try not to judge games based on that unless it's about COD or battlefield. Based on single-player and gameplay mechanics alone I just think Uncharted is more fun by a long way

I'm not really sure why there is so much hate for Gears of War. I absolutely love the multiplayer and horde modes.

A lot of people hate on the games they can't play. You'll notice many people who rip on GoW mention Uncharted being better, probably due to the fact GoW is a similar, better selling game for the competitors console. Something tells me if Gears was a low-selling PS exclusive you would hear a lot less whining about it.

Bioshock Infinite is a given.
Tomb Raider is very tempting.
I'm very skeptical about Ascension. Even if it's good I'll wait a few months.
The pre-order code for Vergil's Downfall is staring at me from my corkboard.
I'll probably buy Citadel with the other ME3 DLCs when I go back to the series, possibly in April.

The rest can die in a fire for all I care.

Bioshock Infinite - Buy

After its release, I will have no interest in anything else life has to offer.

I'll buy whatever the Steam Summer Sale makes irresistible.

I've pretty much decided to buy a new video card since the one I'm looking at comes with free copies of Bioshock Infinite and Tombraider. I was planning to buy both games anyway, so it's a stupidly good deal for me. So I'll be playing those at least.

Where do they have that deal?
