Final Fantasy Composer Nobuo Uematsu’s Health Improving

Nobuo Uematsu’s health issues seem to be improving – the Final Fantasy composer has stated that he’s feeling a bit better and is looking forward to getting out and about starting early next year.

The legendary composer of video game music has updated fans after he decided to step away from a grueling touring schedule. Nobuo Uematsu’s health had declined to the point that he decided to take a break a couple of months ago.

The most recent post on his blog is more or less a short update for his fans. Nobuo Uematsu’s health will likely keep him from returning to composing or performing anytime soon, but he is at least comfortable enough to say that he’s doing better. Mr. Uematsu hopes to start attending concerts in his home country of Japan “little by little” starting sometime next year.

The composer had announced back in September that he was going to be taking a break from his work. His recent work at Dog Ear Records combined with his composing work and touring schedule had proved quite hectic. Ultimately, the fatigue from all of this work got to be too much and Nobuo Uematsu’s health was in danger of taking a serious turn for the worse. As a result, Mr. Uematsu elected to take the rest of 2018 off at the minimum in order to allow his mind and body to recover.

A portion of his workload was the music for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 remake. Silconera had confirmed that he was the man behind the tunes for the PlayStation 4 game that’s still in development. It’s likely that the work for such an important title (combined with touring and other duties) led to his accumulation of fatigue.

Although Mr. Uematsu is best known for his work on the Final Fantasy series, he’s been quite prolific in making music for other game franchises as well as anime, film, and other special projects. Romancing SaGaChrono Triggerand Super Smash Bros. Brawl are some of the more well-known titles that he’s had a hand in making musical magic happen.

Thankfully, one of video gaming’s greatest composers seems to be doing a little better. We’re all rooting for Mr. Uematsu to recover quickly and get back to creating music for the games we all love.
