Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party – Who should I use in battle?

Putting together a Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party isn’t as easy as it might sound. Sure, you have your favorite combinations over characters who you think are best to use in battle, but there’s plenty of enemies and various nasties to beat over the course of the game, and most require different strategies, skills, and items. Still, we’ll run-through who we (operative word: we, though suggestions in the comments are always welcome!) think is the ultimate Tales of Vesperia best party and best four-person lineup to use in terms of basic functions of attack and usefulness.

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party – Yuri

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party

Like it or lump it, Yuri is going to have to stick around in your four-person party for the majority of the Tales of Vesperia runtime. Not only is his all-round melee style the best to help you get to grips with the game’s combat system early on in the game, he’s also got the ability to hit various big combos through his artes.

The likes of Brutal Fang (learned at level 41) and, earlier, Fang Strike (level 9) are both extremely useful too, and can be coupled with moves from others on this list to really rack up the combos.

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party – Rita

What can I say about Rita? Every good party needs a mage and our Tales of Vesperia best party is no different. Thanks to her powerful Area of Attack (AoE) moveset, such as Tidal Wave alongside the likes of Violent Pain, which can turn any battle in your favor, Rita is a must-have. If you manage to get Resilience skill in the endgame, too, you’re looking at an exceptionally powerful match for any opponent.

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party – Raven

Remember what I said about good parties and mages? The same applies for healers too. Love Shot is a pretty hilarious healing buff, and can be of great use during the mid-game thanks to its low level requirement. Raven is also a bit of jack-of-all-trades when it comes to his artes. If you need someone to pick off an enemy from afar, or get up close and personal, Raven can give you the edge. Bonus points for how cool he looks when he’s doing it, too.

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition best party – Estelle

The fourth and final pick (though, again, you might want to switch things up, this is solely what we think is the best combo to carry you through the game) is Estelle. If you get Defend 1 through to Defend 4 applied, she’s an almost unstoppable tank that’ll soak up a lot of damage and dish it out in spades too thanks to her Holy Lance attack. It shouldn’t be discounted, either, that she can revive allies, so she’s pretty much essential.

Of course, you can disagree and say that Raven sucks or that Judith’s in-air attacks have done the business for you but, for those looking to start out, this is about as watertight as a team gets. Now, go forth and battle!
