AAA Ubisoft games like Skull and Bones

Multiple AAA Ubisoft games coming in 2019 fiscal year

Ubisoft appears to have some surprises up its sleeve for the upcoming 2019 fiscal year. According to a new quarterly conference call, there are multiple AAA Ubisoft games coming by March 2020. The publisher did not expand on what games to expect in that time frame.

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad tweeted the information from Ubisoft’s February 14 conference call. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that there will be at least three new AAA games coming in the next year. AAA Ubisoft games for the upcoming year continue to be shrouded in mystery, although we do know about at least one game coming from the publisher in 2019.

Skull and Bones was announced by Ubisoft in 2017 before being delayed into 2019 before E3 2018. The game received a lengthy gameplay demo at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference. Skull and Bones is a multiplayer-focused ship combat game featuring pirate ships and gameplay similar to the boat segments of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

The long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2 from Ubisoft Montpellier was also announced at E3 2017, but no firm release window has been given. It’s possible that Beyond Good and Evil 2 could come within the next year, although the game’s shared universe and online technology could mean it will be a few more years before it releases.

Ubisoft has already said that it won’t release a “full-fledged” Assassin’s Creed in 2019. The company did leave the possibility of a smaller game in the series will come, although not on the AAA scale suggested by Guillemot.

Teases of a new release in the Splinter Cell series have been circling the internet for some time. Ubisoft put Splinter Cell‘s Sam Fisher into Ghost Recon: Wildlands with a free DLC mission last year. His original voice actor returned to the character, and fans have been clamoring for a new game for years. There is also a mission in Far Cry New Dawn that mixes into the Splinter Cell universe.

It’s also possible that Ubisoft has another unexpected Nintendo collaboration in the works. Following the success of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle in 2017, it’s plausible that the two companies are working together yet again.

In any case, we will likely see more of Ubisoft’s upcoming slate of games at E3 2019 in June.
