mortal kombat 11 the daily vote

The Daily Vote | Are you buying Mortal Kombat 11?

The Daily Vote is a daily community feature in which GameRevolution’s readers choose the victor of a hotly-contested topic. Today we ask what whether or not the community is interested in Mortal Kombat 11.

Mortal Kombat 11 is here! NetherRealm’s sequel has finally been released, so fighting game fans can once again lock horns with one another and deliver some bone-crunchingly brutal fatalities and fatal blows.

Mortal Kombat is one of the most well-known and beloved franchises around, but not everyone is going to be sharpening up their button-mashing skills today. The GR editorial team discussed whether or not we’re going to pick up the game below, and we want you to give your answer in the Twitter poll. The winning response will be revealed in tomorrow’s The Daily Vote!

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “Yes, I will be. I haven’t picked up a launch day copy, but I’ll be investing in it at some point in the near future. I’ve always enjoyed how much effort NetherRealm puts into its single-player campaigns, and by all accounts, Mortal Kombat 11 is one of its best story modes yet. I’m looking forward to it.”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I’ve got a copy of MK11, and it’s a pretty decent game. I think I like Mortal Kombat X better though. I’m not a fighting game fanatic, but MK11 just feels a lot slower than MKX, and I miss the X-Rays. The expanded Krypt in MK11 is cool, though, and I like the expanded cosmetic options.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “I’ll probably miss out on Mortal Kombat 11. I’ve got nothing against the franchise, and I love watching the ultra-violent Fatality moves, but I’m pretty awful at fighting games and have little patience when it comes to learning moves. It’s definitely an “it’s me, not you” situation. Looking forward to the Snoop Dogg stream, though.”

Michael Leri, features editor: “I’ve been looking forward to MK11 for years now. I devoured the reveal event and both betas and I can’t wait to dive into the full title. The economy is worrying and it was the worst part of Injustice 2, but I’m hoping NetherRealm fixes this and the solid core gameplay shines through. Because that’s what I’m here for.”

Bradley Russell, news editor: “No, I’m not interested. Nothing against Mortal Kombat 11, which I’m sure is a devilishly gory, gratuitously overblown beat-’em-up in a genre that’s normally high on toned-down scraps, but I just don’t like fighting games as a whole. I’ve got to pick and choose which game to get this week and, unfortunately, my money is going towards Days Gone. I hope MK11 does well, though, just as long as it tones down the supposed grindy nature of the gameplay.”
