Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Thinblood clan

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 reveals new details on Thinbloods clan

There are new details on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Thinbloods clan. Straight from Paradox Interactive, the Thinbloods are “a second-class group of vampires with abilities weaker than those from one of the great clans.” They’re also what you, the player, will start as. However, you’ll eventually get to join one of the five full-blooded and much more powerful Kindred clans. A full description of the clan:

“Thinbloods are a recent, weaker strain of vampire who face a constant struggle to survive in the World of Darkness. While they are often treated as second-class citizens by full-blood Kindred, Seattle’s leadership has been uncharacteristically tolerant of Thinbloods. As Seattle has only relatively recently come under Camarilla control, it remains a city of opportunity where Thinbloods can navigate their way into the higher circles of vampire society; however, they are rarely shown the same respect or legal standing that full-blood clan members enjoy.”

When starting Bloodlines 2, players can choose between the Mentalism, Nebulation, or Chiropteran discipline. Interestingly, these choices come from the Bloodlines 2 pen and paper RPG, and “grant unique combat and traversal abilities” that can be upgraded.

Members of the Chiropteran discipline like bats and can fly around while summoning swarms of the terrifying creatures. Pulling from this are its two starting abilities: Bat Swarm and Guide, the latter of which allows the vampire to get to normally unreachable places or fly down and attack enemies.

Mentalism vampires are more on the telekinetic side. Their two starting powers are Pull and Levitate, and they’re exactly what they sound like. Pull allows you to grab stuff from enemy hands or control inanimate objects. Levitate… levitates enemies, though one can upgrade it to have an area of effect.

Finally, the Nebulation discipline allows vampires to control mist. Its two starting powers are Mist Shroud and Envelop. The former covers you in a shroud of smoke, which quiets the sounds of footsteps and hinders enemy eyesight lines. The latter puts the shroud on an enemy, which blinds them and sends them coughing.

Of course, becoming a full-blood brings with its own abilities and changes. With all of these different skill trees, it seems that Bloodlines 2 will really cater to player customization in the style of old-school RPGs. While we don’t know the exact release date, here’s what we know about the sequel so far. Also, at the end of the video up above is a sneak peek at some pre-alpha gameplay. If they’re showing that, we’re likely to get a big gameplay reveal somewhat soon.
