LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

The 3DS is Nintendo's main focus right now, but they have to be working on a new console if they want to remain competative in the home console market.

Many hardcore gamers were disappointed by the Wii (aside from the first-party games), so what would you like to see in a new Nintendo console?

I'm sure we'll see motion controls, but where else can big N go from here?

I think you'll hear a lot of people who are going to say, "Make it HD". I agree, going forward it's a necessary change to the current console. But that's kind of been the Wii's selling point. It was more affordable and it seemed like if you had kids, you had a Wii. They had a good start though. With sales tapering off I'd imagine it acted as a gateway console for families before they bought a 360. On top of that they just need to work on developing new, creative IPs and make sure they don't poison the well with any of their current ones.

Make it in HD (thanks Bret). Get rid of motion controls, the era of novelty motion gaming needs to come to an end. I have no problem with Nintendo being innovative with their controllers, but just no more motion controls. Other than that I think they're doing quite well with the way things are going right now, Mario is cooler than it's ever been, they have Sonic games now, SSB is strong as ever, new Zelda on the way, I'd just say to keep it up

It's related to Anthony's avatar, methinks.

When the Wii first came out, I was so happy. I loved it to death. There were just some problems, not really with the console, but with the games! They have to find the right kind of games that make the best use of the technology they're using. The DS in some ways continues to have that problem, and I am anticipating that the 3DS will have those troubles as well.

Hmm... I don't think they need to get rid of motion control. I guess a lot of people will feel like Schimmel, that it's dead now, but I think it can be used in better ways. What I want is a new awesome controller, like they do and like I trust them to do, and for them to not be tempted into merging into the lanes of the Microsoft and Playstation consoles.

Basically, Nintendo: Just do your thing.

Oh... .........Power Glove? >.>

Very Happy

Maybe give it more guts than a 10 year old budget computer?

Bonus points for pissing off the useless motion controls.
Make them optional instead of compulsory.

Don't fill my house with fancy Wii sleeves (tennis racket, golf club, driving wheel, etc.).

You mean you never played Zelda with the Zapper? What about this:

Well, I actually thought the Zapper was kind of interesting... I never actually bought it, though. Razz
Also, go ahead and have these:

HD of course. Lossless audio. Better selection of third party titles - Specifically M rated games. Better network capabilities. I can stream from my PS3 and 360, I should be able to do so from whatever Nintendo console is made in the next five years.

And it'll be just as much a useless gimmick as it is now.

Oh I agree, it's bullshit. But it'll probably be a focus at least with all the damn TVs coming out now.

Yep. It's depressing, really.

Don't get me wrong, i can see it working if big screen TVs can have the 3DS technology - no glasses, but it still won't add anything to the game experience that couldn't be improved through other means such as a good controller combined with PS Move or Kinect or some crap and a good surround sound system.

3D technology will continue to be crap until proper holograms are every day tech, which should hopefully be before 2025.
We need another world war to speed up technology production again. Volunteers to cause an international incident?

Uhmm make it good? Make it have good graphics and maybe mature the games a bit like the SNES did to NES games. Made them a lil more grown up. Every thing is way to kindergarden, even Metroid and Zelda. When will we see true sequels? Not water colour games for grandma and the kids. Dont forget about us real gamers Nintendo.

Guys, it's going to be all vitality sensors hooked up to your body and you play the games with your body functions...

But seriously, I remembered reading somewhere that people were speculating that Nintendo's next console would have holographic storage devices or whatever.

New, original, challenging games. A control scheme that works better.
