E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

I mean, I'm making a topic in Nintendo forum...

I feel like I need to blow the dust out of a cartridge before starting this thread up...

Echo! echo echo echo

We're thinking of getting the boys some DSs, not 3DS but just something that we can buy and then shovel a bunch of cheap games in with it. So what the best pre-3DS style and what are some good, easily accessible DS games.

Go!

I like to emulate the wii on my computer. Its cool to play games at 1080p with higher framerates.

I mostly just love super smash brothers brawl Laughing

Definitely do your homework! I know your boys are a little bit older, but I've had really mixed results buying DS games for my niece and nephew. You will be surprised at how deep or confusing many so-called "kiddie" games are. Some of them required constant adult supervision.

But since your boys are older, and are already veteran gamers, you'll probably have better luck.

Just get them LEGO games.

Also, New Super Mario Bros and Star Fox 64.

No piracy bull shit Madster.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with Nintendo's first-party titles. And the cool thing about those is that almost all of them support download play, so you only need to buy one copy of Mario Kart DS.

I have old school DS. I can tell you New Super Mario Bros is good. And DONT trade it in for FF12: Revenant Wings.

Also - Worms, if they're ever on a long car journey together that will carry them through.

The Advance War games are pretty addicting. There's also the Castlevania games. The Elite Beat Agent game is also pretty cheap and fun which you could get for less than 5 bucks.

The World Ends With You. A seriously good game, and they won't understand half of it, which is great because it means they'll learn.

Also, Phoenix Wright. It's always good to challenge them mentally. Though it has a lot of "adult themes" in it, such as lawyers, so you may want to think about it first.

Really, though, the game you want is Pokemon. Everyone likes Pokemon. And get DS or DS lite. Don't bother with DSi, it's a scam.

This is why you don't get a DSi.

You can never go wrong with Mario and Zelda games. I'd go with New Super Maro Bros and Phantom Hourglass.

Definitely go with DSlite.

I second pretty much everything other people said.

If you are getting multiple DSes, you have to have Kart. My brothers and I got it for $5 some years ago. Also, Tetris. Because... Tetris. For something else, maybe DragonQuest IX..?

Other puzzly games include Professor Layton series. I got Unwound Future for $10 at Staples or something weird like that.

And Super Scribblenauts! For the creativity.

Phantom Hourglass is lovely. I found that I enjoyed playing it more than I did Spirit Tracks, even though Spirit Tracks asks way more of you. Not sure if you can find it for cheap, though.

And there's always FFIV.

Scribblenauts is a really great concept, especially for children, but controls so poorly it's unplayable. I never played the sequel.

My kids love the iPad version, so I can only imagine they'll love the DS one.

Lots of good recommendations here. The list is growing. My wife sends warm regards for your helpfulness GR.
