Meltan Master Trainer

The official website and trailer says that all Pokemon available in the Kanto region will have a master trainer. This, of course, means that there could be a Meltan Pokemon Go master trainer. This may be a special case considering the fact that Meltan has never appeared up in any of the games before and can only be obtained via Pokemon Go. This could mean that Meltan’s master trainer may come later than the launch.

Mew Master Trainer

With legendary Pokemon, however, especially one like mew, there might be some complications. Traditionally in Pokemon games, there have only been one of each legendary Pokemon available in the game. So how will there be a Mew Pokemon Let’s Go master trainer? We will have to wait until launch to see.

GameRevolution will be updating this guide to include all the locations and requirements for all the Pokemon Let’s Go master trainers.

What is the Pokemon Let’s Go Master Trainer?

The Pokemon Let’s Go master trainer is a new NPC that was introduced in the latest games in the franchise. They will only appear once you have beaten the Elite Four and become the Pokemon League champion. Each master trainer has dedicated their lives to a particular Pokemon and has become the strongest trainer for that particular pocket monster. They will be dotted all around the Kanto region, waiting for you to talk to them. The master trainers will be easily seen from the bubble above their head showing their favorite Pokemon.

Pokemon Let's Go Master Trainer

Once you have spotted them, you can talk to them. The master trainers will do one of two things: either they will ask you to complete a simple task, or challenge you to a battle. The former of the two will be something as simple as showing the master trainer a “truly powerful” specimen of their favorite Pokemon. As for battling, it is not as straightforward.

The battles with the master trainers have many requirements attached. Firstly, you can only battle them with their favorite Pokemon. So, for example, you would only be able to use a Charizard against the Charizard master trainer. Secondly, no items will be allowed to be used during the battle. Finally, some master trainer Pokemon may have unexpected moves, such as Gyarados having an Electric-type attack. Of course, these Pokemon will also be high level, being usually around level 75.

Once you have defeated or completed the task, you will be rewarded with the title of that master trainer. This will be visible during Link Battles so you can show off your accomplishments.
