I'm in Australia, so I pre-ordered at a local JB Hi-Fi store (which is like America's Best Buy, I think?).

I have a few friends working at JB Hi-Fi so that's why I usually go to them.

Its been confirmed you have to have a origins account to play EA games on the Wii U

" the company explains, "If you sign up to play EA games through a Nintendo Wii U console, your Nintendo account information will be provided to EA so that we can establish an Origin Account for you.

"You need an Origin Account to play EA’s titles online.

"By signing up to play EA’s titles, you agree that limited user account information can be transferred to EA. Information transferred to EA includes your Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language and date of birth but does not include credit card number or other financial account information."

That's why i don't play any EA games on console anymore.
On the PC at least you can get no-origin cracks, but i'll be damned if i'll ever use that 'service'.

You know, i'm starting to get the impression the WiiU is going to win this generation. Remember how much the 360 ruined the PS3 simply because it launched earlier and got a market share?
Microsoft have yet to release shit about the next xbox and the PS4 won't be out until at least 2014. So basically the only company to have even officially announced a new console is Nintendo, who are currently taking pre-orders at a good price and creating artificial demand to get the same magic as the original Wii launch where people would stab each other for one.

I couldn't believe i was actually tempted to put a pre-order on the WiiU when i picked up Horizon today. I had to stop myself.

Unless Microsoft really quickly announce the name and a tentative date for the 720/durango, everyone's gonna grab a WiiU and never even bother to look at the other consoles.

I can see the correlation you make here but you gotta understand even taking exclusives out of the picture the WiiU is about or just slightly more powerful than a xbox 360. The new xbox will have a lot more power to push when it comes out and people will naturally flock to it over the Wii U

If you asked me a week ago if I wanted a Wii U I'd say no. However, after getting a 3DS I'm in love with the first-party franchises. I might have to get a Wii U, now.

Honestly I think your boys will get more mileage on the DS, especially when it comes to car trips, holidays, etc. The Wii U is just something for them to fight over.

In the end, you could buy them two original-model 3DS...es before spending as much as you would on the Wii U this year.

Now, if this is one of those "we'll get the kids this and then I'LL have fun playing with Daniel online" then definitely go with the Wii U.

Haha, I actually just got shot down on the WiiU last night because of "car trips". We're currently looking for DS Lites. But I'm feeling lazy this Sunday and lack the motivation to find good onesand find them at a good price.

I've barely played my 3Ds... I've got a few games for it. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (which is TERRIBLE), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (which I liked) and Resident Evil: Revelations... which is good, but I'm failing to get into it.

I'm annoyed as crap that Nintendo released the 3Ds XL... furthermore, annoyed that it still doesn't have an inbuilt right analog stick.
