So go ahead and say the Wii U is garbage, nobody cares.

calm down girl. i never said i hate nintendo i just don't like where they've gone with their product and a lot of people don't.

strong fanboyism.

Nintendo is my favorite, TBH, I just for the first time have no interest in their newest console, Wii 1 1/4

hopefully it's epic and i'm wrong and i go out and buy one.

Fanboyism? Nice way to save face. But the sad thing is what I said is true.

Genesis would bash the SNES
PS1 would bash the N64
The GCN was called a kiddie console
The Wii was called a fad, etc etc

The truth is Nintendo is still in the game and is still selling. And all the hate it gets has done nothing to diminish their sales.

problem is i never hated on them. i have never bought into the "kiddy" crap. that's just a bunch of teens trying to be hardcore. fun games are fun games. kiddy, or bloody. and nintendo made many of the best, and they would almost all be considered "kiddy".

i didn't care when zelda went the cell shaded kiddy route, i didn't care when WoW had pandas. as long as the gameplay is there thats what matters.

you got mad at me for having an opinion about their newest console, and called me a hater.

people can't have opinions anymore, it's great. what you did is the definition of being a fanboy. i post opinion, you rage cry about why people with opinions different from your own are so bad.

once again, just to clarify, I love Nintendo. SNES > Genesis, N64 > PS1. GCN I didn't care for as much however, but still did enjoy to an extent.

i do not however, enjoy the direction they're going, and many people do not. because i think lots of people just want to see their classic games make use of new technology, and not motion technology with outdated graphics.

doesn't make me a hater, it's my opinion. grow up

Oh don't flatter yourself. I was referring to everyone in the thread who was hating on Nintento. Not once did I point to you directly.

No, you're not a hater, you're just vain.

Ok boys, I'm putting you both on a time out.

The thread can reopen once a mod/admin/GM has something to say about the WiiU.

I'll unlock. We're only a few days away from the Wii U launch. Even if you're not getting one, will you be paying attention to the console?

Even if I weren't getting a Wii U, I love seeing the operating system and the different features. That was me when the PS3 launched. I got a Wii but I liked seeing people navigate the cross media bar and I watched a bunch of gameplay of the PS3 launch lineup at the time. Any games you guys are interested in seeing gameplay of or would you like to see video of the console's menus and options?

That's more or less why I'm so interested in the Wii-U, is because I want to see and try out the new technology. Even if I wasn't going to buy one, the touch screen control interface as well as the hardware interests me. And sure, while games like Mass Effect 3 and Batman: Arkham City have already been released on other consoles, I'm happy to see the Wii-U obtaining such titles. This means that the Wii-U is going to receive further titles like this and unlike the Wii, it won't be considered a "kiddy" console that's for "party games". I'm happy Nintendo is reaching out to core gamers again.

I'm also looking forward to the next potential Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Super Smash Bros. etc. Especially the rumours with the next Smash Bros, claiming that there may be a 3Ds version that will coincide with the Wii-U version.

My only complaint is that here in Australia, we don't get our grubby little hands on the Wii-U until November 30th. Can't wait to see the reviews... especially for ZombiU (the game I've pre-ordered with my Wii-U console)!

Nintendo is still my favorite dev. I miss Sounds. That was a a fanboy I could stand behind.
Nintendo is the reason I play video games, even if the last video game I bought for a nintendo console was Resident Evil reloaded (or whatever the fuck) for the GC. I ddn't even finish it.

I just want nintendo to last. Sega fucked it up. But fuck sega. Yeah, fuck sega. THey're sht compared to nintendo.

I just hate this idea that nintendo needs to go to waggle controllers and gimmicky setups to sell their consoles. Fuck...all it takes is first party god gifts like mario and etc. (fuck, mainly mario..give me a sequel to mario 64 and i'm good for buying another console)

I won't buy the Wii U, but I'll talk someone close to me into buying it, like my sister. Then i'll "borrow" it from her, or something. I didn't finish the last 2 mario games (galaxy one and two) and it fucking kills me. Nintendo, where did we go wrong Sad

I can certainly agree with that sentiment. I think Nintendo just doesn't want to repeat the GameCube era where they tried to compete in graphics and hardware, and it didn't do shit for them, but if Nintendo were to go the way of Sega I think I'd probably cut myself. I've just got too much Nintendo in my blood.

Nintendo going the way of Sega is kind of my dream. Get out of the console business and focus on developing software for other platforms. I'd love to see what Miyamoto and crew could do with the iPad, Kinect, PS4, Xbox Live, etc.

Really, I'm just in love with the new Mario. It looks gorgeous. That and Pikmin.

I think the Wii U can stand up to next-gen in the early running if only because it was built exclusively for use with the tablet. If Microsoft and Sony follow suit (ie w/ smart glass and the Vita) they'll have to play a little catch up to get they're stuff up to speed.

Thoughts? If you dont have a Wii U will you use competing Xbox or PlayStation tech?

I think it's very likely I just stick to PC this generation if I don't get a Wii U. While the Wii U shows promise, I think the hardware isn't enough to keep Nintendo in on the 3rd party business once we see a new xbox and playstation. Most likely, Microsoft will try to mimic what Nintendo is doing if it has any success, and it'll probably be too gimmicky to be worth it. I don't really see Sony trying to do too much. They got destroyed this cycle on console prices, and it hurt them overall. So yeah, PC most likely all the way. It's hard to guess how things will shake out though without seeing what exactly sony and microsoft are going to try to do. I'm seriously wondering if this next cycle might see the end of one of the big three in the console business. I think Microsoft is the most secure, but Nintendo looks weak and you can never discount Sony from shitting all over itself, especially with how bad their overall company has been doing.
