Voice Actor Reveals That Mortal Kombat 11 Is Inevitable

One of the surprises of this year’s E3 was the lack of info on NetherRealm’s next fighting game. We’ve seen the studio switch between Injustice and Mortal Kombat for almost the past decade, and, if the pattern continues, it’s Mortal Kombat 11‘s turn to shine. Well, if a Spanish voice actor is telling the truth, we may be seeing more Fatalities sooner rather than later.

Taking to Twitter, Lalo Garza spoke about his ousting from the new Mortal Kombat project. Garza is allegedly the voice behind Kung Lao and Reptile in recent Spanish language versions of the Mortal Kombat games. He mentions Pink Noise Studios, which is the company that localizes the games for Spanish markets. Once the tweet got some traction, Garza returned to Twitter to try to clarify his previous statement.

Garza’s tweet translates to him saying that he doesn’t know if the game is “MKXI, MK10.5, MKXYZ or whatever.” He does confirm that there is new work being done with the fighting franchise. This could mean that the studio hired a new actor to portray these roles. On the flip side, it could also mean that Kung Lao and Reptile won’t appear in NetherRealm’s next game. Considering Mortal Kombat X‘s focus on the so-called “Kombat Kids,” this may not be surprising.

Whatever happens, this would be the third Mortal Kombat game since 2011’s franchise refresh. Mortal Kombat X iterated on that return to form and brought in a whole new slew of characters. It had the most successful launch of any game in the series and, according to Time Warner’s 2015 Annual Report to Shareholders, it was one of the best-selling games of 2015. These sales make it likely that there is another Mortal Kombat in the works. Despite the probability of Mortal Kombat 11, Warner Bros. still has not confirmed that it is in development.
