I haven't heard anything about Twilight, except that the Cullen family has acquired a good piano. I'm glad it's stopped invading my life. I don't get why people drag other people to movies -- it's just going to make someone feel uncomfortable, and no one should want that. Send a cut-out of Edward instead.

I agree with you about the action movie thing, Matt. Your comment kind of reminds me about Sherlock Holmes, who is so dashing...

Still waiting on word from the rest of my family when we might be seeing Skyfall. I finally saw The Avengers when my dad bought it... just before I planned on gifting it to him for his birthday. :p Understanding feels.

I've yet to see any of Twilight, but... the promotional images and trailers make me cringe. I've heard all about the terrible story, which brings me to my question WHY IS IT POPULAR?

I'm kinda looking forward to seeing Skyfall. I loved Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace was okay... I'm not expecting Skyfall to be better than Casino Royale, but I am expecting it to be better than Quantum of Solace.

Re-watched Step Brothers again on Saturday night. Immature but hilarious. Razz

Saw this yesterday with my parents. Daniel Day Lewis was fucking amazing. Tommy Lee Jones was incredible as well. Great cast, and the move kept my interest throughout. Apparently Lincoln was a master storyteller, because holy shit were some of his stories funny.

Red Dawn 4/5

One of the better remakes, it doesn't copy the movie and has just a spice of campy with out the cheesy, which I think is good. The plot is more straight forward and has a sense of urgency and importance that the original lacked. However, the moral ambiguity that made the original great is gone.

One of the criticisms that I've seen is that the characters are flat. I think this discredits all but Matt Eckert, who admittedly is the 'main character'. There were scenes where the plot develops him, but Josh Peck's acting was so bad that it left no emotional impact.

That makes me sad. Josh Peck in "The Wackness" was amazing. He did have a amazing Ben Kingsley to work with though.

I saw Skyfall this past Sunday night and I really liked it, I thought it was awesome. It wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but it was so much better than Quantum of Solace (which I hated). I kind of went into Skyfall with no expectations, but I came out very satisfied.

I watched Seven Psychopaths last night.

It started off so well, but then just fizzled out a little at the end. Still good, I'd recommend. Loved the bit after the credits too!

3.5/5.

Finally saw Prometheus. Haven't seen good sci-fi movies in a long time, so it was a really good watch. Neat way to expand the Alien universe.

Watched Batman Begins recently on DVD. Also picked up The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 on Blu-Ray. I've read the graphic novel by Frank Millar before, but the animated movie was really awesome - it's a shame it's just "part 1". Sad

i JUST watched dark knight rises. waited to pick it up on blu ray, i prefer my own living room over a theater and somehow managed to be patient and avoid spoilers with this one.

i thought it was excellent, almost on par with the dark knight. but it was definitely too long, although it didn't really feel it. it definitely felt a little ... i dunno.. messy. the dark knight was a masterpiece start to finish every part of the film was necessary, everything made sense.

while i think this one was almost better in some ways, it just felt kind of rushed, or like they tried to cram WAY too much into too short a time, despite my original complain the movie was too long. i can't really put my finger on it, that's just how i feel.

so i'd give the dark knight let's say a 4.8/5, i'd give the dark knight rises a 4.6/5

also watched Brave which i loved a lot more than i thought i would due to mixed reviews.

people just set far too high of expectations with Pixar now. the story was not groundbreaking, but it was enjoyable. the movie was funny, touching, beautiful, sound was incredible, etc.

sure as shit beats Cars, and in my opinion, Up

4.2/5

OK, now don't let anyone else talk to you about it or that positive feeling will be dragged down. There are a lot of detractors.

My only complaint was the length, first 45 and last 45 would have been a fine film but I'm pretty sure they had to build the back story since the average person probably has no idea who Bane is, but everybody knows the Joker. That's my theory.

With Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, my order of preference would be - The Dark Knight, Batman Begins and then The Dark Knight Rises.

intoTheRain - that's very impressive you didn't see The Dark Knight Rises at the theatre and still avoided spoilers all this time. Not bad, man. I do agree, The Dark Knight Rises was an excellent movie, it was awesome, but it was very, very long (I think longer than The Dark Knight, or at least it felt much longer) and there were a lot of things that just felt "crammed". It did feel a little rushed too.

I was very happy with how Bane turned out, but there were a lot of mixed reactions about Bane. Most people see Bane as a brute and an idiot. In the comics Bane is actually supposed to be very intelligent and very articulate in the way he speaks. He's also meant to be Spanish or something (I forget which nationality)... so I think the movie pulled him off brilliantly for their more "realistic" approach to Bane.

As drathbone said - you're probably right. Not a lot of people know who Bane is and if they do know or remember Bane, they would assume the big "RAR" brute Bane from the Batman & Robin film. So with The Dark Knight Rises, they probably felt they had to explain their interperation of Bane to avoid confusion and to give the audience a good understanding of the character. As for the Joker? Yeah, again you're right - everyone knows who he is. Razz

Incredible. Saw the midnight screening in Ultra AVX 3D IMAX Super Spectacular Utopia Edition.

I can't really talk about it without spoilers so all I'll say is if you like Lord of the Rings it won't disappoint.
