LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

I wasn't allowed to talk about the new Infinity Ward game last week when I met with Activision, and I don't have much to say now that Xbox One spilled the beans.

The next generation Xbox is revealed and Xbox Live now costs $100 a year. What do you do?

If there are no new bells and whistles, like being able to stay online anywhere you go with your phone or whatever, and there are no free games like there are with PlayStation Plus, do you still stick with the service or did the next-gen PlayStation just get a boost?

What would you need to see to justify a $100 sub-fee a year?

I would need free games, built-in subscriptions to other services like Hulu and Netflix, and a host of new social stuff. Basically I'd want to see the service built from the ground up and NO MORE GODDAM ADVERTISEMENTS ON MY DASHBOARD.

No ads, free games, and huge "gold-only" promotions and sales.

Do I get to play on my pc with xbox live and play in the same games as my xbox friends?

No? Then no.

I did however use my friends consoles and I will say I think xboxlive is the superior service(Even if its 70% ad space now)
Yes remove all ads but 10% if you actually pay the subscription make non payers watch ads before they can play or log in.

I cancel my current bank account because it's impossible to get the microsoft dipshits to stop auto-charging you, and then i watch while the gaming industry gets even worse than it is today, playing my pre-2010 games on my laptop until the next game industry crash.

I wouldn't have redone my XBL this year if they didn't auto charge. Ads all over my dashboard for fundamentally the same service as you get for free on PC/PS3/WiiU and yet it costs the same as a PS2, memory card and a couple games?
Yeah, no.
Maybe it would be worth of it you got free ULC ('Unlockable content' - ie, the 'fuck you' developers are fond of these days), but even then i wouldn't spend more than $30/year.

I'd buy into those promotional deals that sell 1 month of XBL service for $1 buck at a time.
That's what I'm on right now. Hopefully I'll do the entire 2013 year on $12 bucks, instead of ~$49.99.

If that's not available, I'd expect more built in options, like a dvr connection to my television provider and bring back the option of a Netflix party in the dashboard so I could share my recorded episodes of Duck Dynasty with friends in Sweden. And they could share their tv with me. Awesome. The ability to share local tv with others will be a big step for consoles.

Free games and advertising on Live doesn't affect me so much. I just don't look at the ads...keep pounding the RB button. And anything given away freely is gonna have to suck, there's no getting around that.

I would switch to Playstation for multiplayer.

In this same world though you would see Playstation start charging but at current live rates and its still better than the alternative.

I would also start taking pc gaming more seriously

What if GfW Live started charging too? God, this future is inevitable.

wLive cracks already exist. I would continue to use them and start putting more stock in cracked servers.

Also, just ignore games with wLive and Origin.

I would switch to PSN for free, subscribe to PS+ for $50 a year and get over $100 in free games right when I signed up.

Yeah that's what I'd do.

Yeah that's what I'd do.

What I hate is those games are only free IF you stay with PS Plus. Otherwise, goodbye to all those games.

Yeah but why the heck would you want to stop paying $50 a year for a ton of awesome games? I don't know that feel bro.

Think about it...

PS thank you Quidboy.
