Is there a Nintendo character that might resonate with HD "next-gen" graphics better than Mario? I'm partial to either Zelda or Metroid stepping up and outperforming the plumber in terms of quality experiences on the Wii U, especially given Zelda's need for inventory management on the touch screen and Metroid's first-person mechanics now given the proper dual-analog controls.

Pikachu...only on Nintendo...and basically just as big a reason to buy a handheld device as Mario.

So like a Pikachu-exclusive game? Does it need to have all the other pokemon in there? do you play as Pikachu or is this just a fully next-gen Console-sized Pokemon sequel where you're also playing online with other people in some fashion, maybe exploring the world in parties?

Could a personalized Mii type of avatar become a big thing in the future? It would be like a "Be the hero!" kind of thing. No more pre made protagonist.

They've already using them in many games and a Sackboy is technically this kind of a character. Maybe they should just hone the design a bit and add more customization options.

I was thinking about this last night. I'd like to see a game where you play as Shigeru Miyamoto (a favorite video game dev of nearly everyone) and your goal is to create the next big thing for Nintendo.
Maybe something like scribblenauts, where whatever you imagine you create. Maybe you could upload your completed games or stories to the WiiU network and play them like small videos. Share them as well. Fans could really get behind something like that.
Part Wario Ware, part Scribblenauts. A puzzle game with a story, but non linear.
It sounds crazy already, perfect for a game involving Miyamoto.

Your Mii character becoming the "very best like no one ever was" in a true console version of Pokemon... No?

Link then because "its dangerous to go alone" and also because Zelda is not the main Character and Metroid is not SAMUS' name...

Mario is way bigger. Also Link doesn't appear in 50 thousand games a year.

Mario is in everything. His character spans genres. Link is in Zelda games and Smash Bros.
