The Game Awards 2018: Mortal Kombat 11 Announced, Koming Next Year

NetherRealm Studios has been fairly quiet since the release of Injustice 2‘s three Fighter Packs. However, the studio has just announced Mortal Kombat 11 at The Game Awards and it is coming out on April 23, 2019 to the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. There will also be a community reveal event on January 17, 2019.

The trailer shows Scorpion fighting Raiden (not Sub-Zero like usual) in a CG trailer. It’s incredibly brutal as the fighters beat on each other to a comically violent degree, which makes sense for the series. The game is continuing the story of Mortal Kombat X as evidenced by the presence of Evil Raiden.

Mortal Kombat 11 is bringing back the popular Variations system from Mortal Kombat X but with a twist. Players will now be able to create their own Variations  to have “unprecedented control” over their fighters. Classic characters will also be returning as well as some new additions but NetherRealm has not divulged any details. However, there is a tease of new character in the trailer, which you can watch below.
