Just saw This is 40. It started off kind of oddly, but then it hooked me.

I also saw This is 40. It was a weird date movie, but oddly funny in some ways. I'm happy it didn't get all cliche with the husband and wife cheating on each other simultaneously.

Also just watched Meet Joe Black and A Bronx Tale for the first time.
Good God was Joe Black the most boring mother fucker ever. You'd think Death in the world trying out what it is to be human would involve more hijinx, but instead it's Look at Young Brad Pitt for 2 out of the 3 Hours You're Stuck Watching this: The Game.
Bronx Tale was more my speed, particularly because I have a soft spot for father-son dramas (a little about me) and this has TWO father figures and one son. OVERLOAD. No tears. 1/5.

The World's Fastest Indian. 4/5

Just a great movie with lovable characters. Anthony Hopkins does an excellent job at being a quirky New Zealander. Probably his most approachable character yet (if that makes sense to anyone else).

Sorry, that's "One Oscar out of every 5 minutes." I was just still pissed about Joe Black.

Zero Dark Thirty

Amazing! Loved it. Totally lived up to my extremely high expectations. It ties the lead character to the sort of emotional reaction the country had. Mission Accomplished makes an appearance. Torture. A guys butt.

Anyway, totally my favorite film of 2012. Uhh, that I saw in 2013.

I went into it with to high of expectations. Not that it was bad I just wouldn't say it was award worthy. I do however like the ending.

Following Nick Caves works brought me to watch The Proposition. I'm really glad it did. Great western set in Australia. Gritty and dirty, just the way I like it.

Zero Dark Thirty 4.5/5

At first I went away unsatisfied. The material isn't that compelling, and I didn't connect with it. In hindsight, however, the direction, cinematography, and in the end the content did exactly what they needed. It was best expressed in the elevator scene where the director says "she's smart" to which is replied "we all are". It was a story about how all thes larger than life, terrible events are driven by people just living.

So in the end, I highly recommend it.

Les Miserables

One of the few musicals that I've never been to. It was good. There were parts that were great, parts that were less so. But good movie/musical nonetheless.

I just watched it last night, I have no idea why people think it is award worthy, or why everyone came out of it crying. Is it the christian theme? Is it a kid getting killed in the film?

http://youtu.be/zUIbBcsSAgE

At least the girl who was from the musical,Samantha Barks, did a awesome job in the movie.

That's a cliche?

I just saw Total Recall. I never saw the old one but I want to now. It was pretty cool. Looking forward to the older one.

I would hardly say that it was Christian so much as it is about redemption and purpose. And the kid dying didn't even get an award. well, javert gave him his, but that's hardly worth anything

I have a feeling people cried at the end because Valjean's death was a pretty powerful/emotional moment. (Wasn't going to spoiler tag that due to how old the source is, but whatever.)

I just saw it for the second time tonight. It's such a great movie.

But then again I may be biased due to my love of musical theater.

Just saw Django Unchained. 5/5

Nowhere near my favorite Tarantino film overall, but the performances in it were some of the best of all his films (specifically Jackson & DiCaprio). I didn't think the rap music or ending went against the rest of the film at all. The whole thing is just one giant homage to Blaxploitation & Spaghetti Westerns, and despite the subject matter it never takes itself that seriously.

Watched Zero Dark Thirty 3.5/5

It was good but it just didn't connect with that well probably because the people I watched it with kept asking me questions about the movie and asked if it actually happened and I just wanted to hit all of them with a pillow case full of bars of soap because I was trying to enjoy a movie.
