AMD have designed a physics engine for hair which will be used in the new Tomb Raider. Whilst not affecting gameplay, it's a good step for more realistic graphics and it looks like it's the first step for a full physics package from AMD to rival Nvidia's PhysX. As AMD are going to supply parts for the new consoles I'd imagine this'll be used in the upcoming games.

Looks good. Its nice to see it implemented into a video game. Sometimes it buggs me how static hair can be. Like everyone has plastic, solid hair.

If its one thing that really makes games more believable to me its the interaction of wind with the character. Arkham City had amazing nvidia physx wind that blew batmans cape around while snow flakes would fall and melt on it. Even had clouds of gass and dust that would move realistically as I flew through them. Then the papers on the ground in the catwoman level. Bruce Wayne's clothes at the beginning of the game actually hung off of him and swayed with actual physics like real clothes do. Aww Yeah I love physic in my video games.

Nvidia had hair tessellation and physics back on the 400 series years ago. As far as I know it was never implemented in a game though.

...Why is she completely filthy, with perfectly clean hair?

And yeah, i'm happy we're finally seeing some good physics being used. Immersion is all-important, and having things blow around certainly helps with that.
Also, animations.
