I'll wait until it gets some patches and's on sale for $10 or so.
I'm fine with AOE2 as it is, anyway - i just finished a match right before i came on GR, actually.
Kicked 2 CPUs ass' with my viking berserkers. Seriously, they're overpowered as hell. I love it. Create a line of them with trebuchets to back them up and nothing can oppose you.
Quick tip incase anybody didn't already know, to fix colours just disable explorer in task manager, and then start it back up when you're finished. Then you can run AOE2 on Win7 64bit perfectly. _________________

My CDs got some corrupted files, so I haven't been able to play in quite a while.
I consider the graphic style of games like AoE II to be far superior to a lot of current styles used today. Same with Diablo II. Seeing that in HD would be like sex for your eyes. _________________

Yeah, the game still looks pretty good these days, even on my laptop. Just crank it up to 1024x768 and deal with the 4:3, or if you must have 16:9 -

You could try that until the 5th. Obviously the purpose built one would work better, but that looks pretty good if you just want 1280x720 or something.
If your CD's dead, just torrent it. There's a pre-installed version with tons of seeds on tbp just you just extract and double click straight away. That's what i'm using right now, because downloading 180mb was quicker than searching through boxes looking for my discs.
It's annoying how CDs degrade over time. I had to torrent Warcraft 3 because the Frozen Throne cd in my battlechest thing decided to die. _________________

I still play AoEII, but I'd honestly be willing to buy the Steam version still.

I kick major Teutonic ass with my Vikings, longo. The CPU is too stupid to pack the bombard towers with archers, so my berserkers just storm in and ruin the place.
I'll probably buy the steam version at some point. I still have random money in my steam wallet thing that's been sitting there for, what, 6+ months?
Then we call do a big GR free-for-all. 8 of us should be keen enough. Maybe we can get ugh in on it and convince him to go for the Goths. I'm sure 5 or 6 rows of wooden walls would be good enough, right? _________________

Haha, Goths. Even as a kid, I knew that if you wanted to kick balls, you set up a random map against Goths. _________________

| I wants it, but $18 feels awfully steep to me. Fingers crossed for it being $5 during the Steam summer sale. |

| I'll pick it up once we get closer to April 5. I'm actually pretty excited, I haven't played it in a few years. |

Worthy of double post.....
If you pre purchased it, you can play now instead of waiting until Monday! |

Wish if you enter the CD key of the previous copy you own that you'll get the HD version half off or something.
EDIT: Oh shit, scratch that. Forgot there was never a CD key for AoE II... man, those were the days. |

So just quickly booted this up to see what was happening.
So, why is this worth more than $1 again? It's literally just AOE2 that's been stretched. There's not even any graphics options. The exact same experience is had with a slightly modified version of the original game, except it's much smaller on your HDD. _________________

Yeah, it's basically just an update of the original game to run at higher resolutions. And some of the unit animations have a short delay before the loop, which is just ugly. But, being released on the Steam platform, hopefully we'll see more patches and updates, and almost certainly more mods a la Steam Workshop. _________________
