What is the Tales of Vesperia Switch unlock time problem?
Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition has been released on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch to coincide with the game’s 10th anniversary. However, players on Nintendo’s console are becoming increasingly frustrated that the title hasn’t been unlocked on the Switch’s eShop.
Posters on the Tales of Vesperia Reddit page have been venting their anger in threads like this one, and want answers from Nintendo over the unlock time schedule. Every other gamer is able to play Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition right now, so why can’t those who bought it on the Switch access it yet?
When is the Tales of Vesperia Switch unlock time?
Nintendo has a disclaimer on its website about pre-orders from the Switch eShop, which gives them a bit of wiggle room on this front. Nintendo has a policy of allowing games to be pre-loaded onto your Switch at the time of the game’s order. After downloading a portion of the game on release day – usually beginning at 12 AM EST – gamers should be able to access their newly purchased titles.
However, Nintendo does also state that some third-party titles won’t be available until 12 PM PST, which is several hours after this initial unlock time. Given that Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition is developed by Bandai Namco, this could be the major reason why it hasn’t appeared on the eShop yet. Make sure you keep an eye out for when it’s available.

- 3 PM Eastern
