Robin Williams (1951-2014) Robin Williams was an absolutely exceptional comedian, talented actor, and holder of a special place in video game history: He was the first really famous gamer I know of. I’m sure there were others, but they kept a comparatively low profile, unlike one...

I noticed on the PSN that it said PS1 classic games like Crash Bandicoot were compatible with the PSP. Does that mean if I had a PSP and downloaded the game that i'd easily be able to play it on the psp?

Does anybody do this? Does it work pretty well?

Yup! I'm pretty sure every PS1 Classic can play on PSP, while some are not bootable on Vita at the moment (I think. I could be wrong).

I haven't played any PS1 classics on PSP because I've never owned one, but the Vita's PS1 presentation works great. Make sure you create a virtual memory card though, just like on PS3. I started playing FFTactics and put about 3 hours in before I finally saved and it told me I couldn't without a VMC.

Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy Tactics worked great obviously. I tried Tomb Raider at E3 and that was fine, but boy did that game horribly age.

Im not sure if your interested in this, but I helped my friend mod his psp to run a playstation emulator. I taught him how to make his own ps1 roms or download them from the internet. Only download roms of games you own, I dont advocate piracy here at the game revolution. Smile

I havnt had experience doing it with the vita though, this was years ago.

Yeah i ran a softmodded PSP for a while there. Downloaded most of my PS1 games (was easier than ripping from my discs - GTA London wouldn't even read) and just put them on.
Also, no need to carry around UMDs. I played Ace Combat X for hours upon hours with the UMD until it started stuffing up, at which point i played it for hours upon hours off the memory card.

You need a PSP 2000 or certain PSP 3000s (I still have my modded PSP3K in a box somewhere) with certain firmware, though. Still cheaper than buying all of your games again through the PSN.

So I just got a PSP 3000 and I bought Castlevania Symphony of the Night and I'm digging it so far. Not just the game, but being able to play these games I love on the PSP. I got tired of the DS and 3DS, just weren't doing a lot for me. I'll look into modding them in the future at some point.

Cool Smile let us know how it goes. I've always been interested in Homebrew games on PSP, but I've never owned one.
