Hiding from Chief Irons in the orphanage in Resident Evil 2 is one of the most pulse-pounding moments in the game. Here’s how to hide from Irons when he’s chasing you and grab the Orphanage Key when he’s distracted.

How to hide from Chief Irons in the orphanage in Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 Orphanage Hiding Location

Once you’ve solved the block puzzle and made it downstairs, you’ll find that the front door is locked. You’ll have to sneak to the Director’s Room and tried and take the key while Irons isn’t looking.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work out well, and he spots you. After this, you’ll have to run away from Chief Irons and head back to the Nursery upstairs to hide from him.

Once you make it back to the Nursery, duck under the blocks and move to the part of the room where a few cabinets are pushed together. These cabinets are surrounded by cribs and allow you to walk in a 360 circle around them.

When Chief Irons enters the Nursery, he’ll begin to search. The only thing to have to do to hide successfully is to duck down and keep the cabinets between Sherry and Irons. He’ll search around the cabinets a few times, but as long as you can keep ducked down and mostly out of sight, he won’t notice you.

How to get the Orphanage Key in Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 Orphanage Key

After Chief Irons has searched for you for a while, he’ll run into the bathroom to try and relieve the pain from the acid on his face. He’ll leave the key in the bathroom door when he does this.

As soon as the cutscene ends you need to run south, then west to round the line of tables. Then sprint to the door and grab the Orphanage Key.

Once you have the key, make a beeline back to the door you used to enter the Nursery, unlock it with the Orphanage Key, and run back downstairs.

Once you’ve made it downstairs, try and use the key on the front door. You’ll find it’s also been chained from the outside.

Now, rush to the door leading to the Director’s Room corridor and unlock it with the Orphanage Key. Then, rush to the Director’s Room. After you reach your destination, you’ll have completed Sherry’s scenario. Sit back and enjoy the cutscene.
