Fallout 3 was my entry into the franchise, so I bought the bundle this weekend too. I'm pretty pumped to get into it.

Fallout 2 takes awhile to get into but it definitely picks up after you get your first gun.

Been playing War Thunder and Soul Hackers.

Let me remind you of this discussion:
GiftedMonkey wrote:
Here's the thing: Like used said, everybody is wrong.

Retro doesn't mean old. Retro means it's in the style of old. Pac-Man, Tetris, and Pong aren't retro games, they're old games (Or, if you want to give them some more credit, they're vintage games). They can also be considered classic games (more on that later). Super Meat Boy, Lone Survivor, and other new games with those old school graphics and mechanics are retro, because they aren't actually old games, they're just acting like it.

Classic, on the other hand, has a much wider definition. It can mean original or very old, it can mean serving as a standard, it can mean it has enduring quality and appeal. Pong is a classic arcade game, because it has been around longer than the rest. Doom and Goldeneye are classic games because virtually every FPS every made has been influenced by them in some way. Tetris is a classic, because it is so widely played and acclaimed. That E.T. Atari game that is widely seen as the worst game ever made? It's a classic because its fucking old. I would go so far as to call GTA 3 a classic, because even though it is from the PS2 generation (which makes an ancient-in-gaming-terms 11 years old) everybody played it, it was met with near-universal acclaim, and its open-ended world structure has been imitated countless times in countless ways.

So, to recap:

Vintage is old, retro is acting like its old.

Classic means it has earned special status or recognition, through its quality or its age.

Classic games are not retro games, but retro games may someday become classic games.

Far Cry 2. Aside from the voice acting, I still think it's better than 3 in nearly every way.

I'd say platinuming would be no problem, if it weren't for the multiplayer trophies, and the one that seems to imply you need to play through a portion of the game with every single character.

Started Bioshock Infinite. I regret it because it totally ruined my other plans for the evening like eating. It isn't anything spectacular so far, but it is a good fps with solid gameplay and the no brakes progression makes it hard to find a good spot for a break.

With Far Cry 2, the only thing I didn't like was mainly the fast travel system. Get to one bus station, to get to another? That was really frustrating.

It's a bit of a pro/con, but I also didn't like how every enemy camp always respawned... this on one hand was good because it means you'd never run out of people to kill, like in Far Cry 3, but due to the lack of fast travel, driving through these locations was a pain.

I also got annoyed at how when ever you received a storyline mission, you'd always be asked by another 'friend' to go see them, miles away (again no fast travel) to receive alternative objectives, then you have to get all the way back to the mission objective.

I guess I just didn't have the patience for Far Cry 2.

I didn't mind the no-fast travel, since that makes the game much more engaging, but agreed in terms of the respawning enemy camps. Mostly because they were always RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.

I really liked Far Cry 2, but 3 does improve on it.

Yeah, I really hated that about Far Cry 2. stupid respawning guys would follow me forever too when I eventually took the tactic of just driving through their camps.

Been checking out some emulators, namely dolphin (gamecube) and pcsx2 (PS2).
Twilight Princess, Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, MGS 3, persona 4, dragon quest VIII,.. all of them still highly enjoyable and they look stunning.
It only leaves one question unanswered: where do these textures come from?

Sleeping Dogs is free on PS+ and I'm hooked. Like seriously addicted, I can't put it down.

This is why the waiting game rocks when it comes to video games.
