im actually really enjoying Dirt 3, at least what parts of it are rally. I'm really annoyed by the fact every other race i have to do donuts and smash cardboard aliens and spin out... this chit is not fun why did they jam so much of it in here.. the racing aspects are so fun and well done imo, as well as nice to look at, but so few and far between. I hate how they try to cram drifting/stunt BS into racing games now because all the teeny boppers love it because they saw a Monster car on the X Games doing it.

If I wanted to drift I'd buy Drift 3

Haven't played a ton of NFS yet cause I'm finishing up Dirt 3, but will soon, I did pick it up.

Also hope Grid 2 is good. Any experience with Grid 2 Daniel or any other reviewer? DOes it look promising?

DiRT 2 is basically DiRT 3 with all that bullshit toned down. I heartily recommend it.

Also, a heavily modified copy of NFS: Shift (1) is apparently pretty good.
I wouldn't know, though, because i can't get the fucking thing to work. If you can manage it, though, you can add almost all of the cars from Forza 3/4 and fix the physics, which makes it pretty fun.

Real Racing 3 on iPhone is a pretty good racing game that's completely free, tons of cars and tracks, and you can earn everything in the game without paying a cent, but of course you could pay and get it all instantly if you wanted.

Wut, a racing MMO?

Do you get XP upgrades and all that? If so, no, thanks. Upgrades in racing games should be limited by money and nothing else. Tracks can be limited by license level.

Dirt 2 was a lot of fun.

If you're looking for something more serious, the F1 series is pretty good, but really fucking hard. Fortunately, if you get the newest one, they have a tutorial to help you out if you're new to F1 (at least, that's what I've read). I have the previous year's version, and learning how to drive a formula one car took a while, and was a bit frustrating. Fun overall, though.

Only problem with the F1 games, is that they're built on the single mot unreliable engine in the world, the Ego engine.

Play the game once or twice and it works perfectly. 4 days later when you try to boot it again, LOL NO. Enjoy your reinstall.

Dirt2 seems to be the most stable out of all of them, and i still had a ton of issues with it. GRID is so pointlessly broken it's not worth the effort, and the early days of F1 2012 was absolutely horrible. Apparently it's better these days, but i'll still never touch it.
I'm waiting for F1 2013 in the hopes that they'll have made it actually stable for once.

Also tried Grid 2: nice graphics, and cool idea of using youtube fans insead of XP. But no camera inside the cockpit..? come on, don't try to pass it off as a sim game!

GRID 2 is an absolute turd. Graphics are only nice if you don't compare them with Shift 2 or PCars and the physics are abysmal. Gameplay is boring, too.

Big pass on that one.
Now we just wait for Project Cars and Assetto Corsa.

You know, I'm surprised no one made a racing "mmo" based on the same concept as World of Tanks and Mechwarrior Online except with GT variety of parts and vehicles, and better crash physics. Though I could see them charging certain premium parts and nos for real money which will send people up the wall.

There is, it's called iRacing and it sucks because there are so few cars.
