I have and will continue to have a place in my heart for Nintendo. In fact, my first console was a Super Nintendo. The video game market has changed drastically since the early '90s and it seems like what once was platinum is more so along the lines of silver now. Nintendo has always been...

What makes me facepalm is that the apu they are using is not really that high end of pc equipment. It cant be generations ahead of pcs if it cant outperform the current generation pc equipment(Which is whatever top series the video card makers are currently serving). Its not even taking into account higher clockspeed cpus, overclocking and being able to run multiple video cards together.

We have directx api every few years

We have new cpus and architectures every couple of years

new video cards chips and architectures every couple years.

I guess that would be the pc equivalent of a generation?
Doesn't matter half the time because developers will only design their game and engine around running on the consoles and then just port it to the pc. We do get to do fun things though like run higher fps and do crazy super sampling anti aliasing like SGSSAA.

Its why I always try to buy games that devs put pc extra stuff in like physx, this past generation any game that had the dx11 api, High res textures, and not having a fps cap that cant be at least easily removed.

Sleeping dogs was a great example of them adding high res textures, adding dx11 api, and giving the pc version the proper treatment.

This is also the reason I penalize Devs when they retard tech in the same series. Im looking at you RE6. RE5 was dx11, it ran and looked amazing. RE6 doesn't run as well and its directly because they retarded back to dx9.

You could use the generations for video cards+CPUs.

E8400+8800GTX
i7-920+HD4870
i5-2500k+GTX680
i7-4770K+GTX780

Perhaps?
Either way, retarded statement. A single HD6870 (ie, mine) does 1920x1080@60FPS with High or better settings in almost every game, let alone a current high-end PC which would run either a GTX680 or GTX780.

In fact, only recent games i've struggled with are Ass Creed 3 and Crysis 3, which you might recognize as 2 of the most poorly optimized games released in the past 5 years.

What he said was,

Quote:
“These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market. Our benchmarks on just the video and audio performance are 8-10 times superior to the current gen.

The APU used in both consoles is a generation ahead of what is out currently, and I don't doubt they are 8-10 times quicker than the current gen consoles.

Performance wise there is no contest to PCs but what he said isn't wrong, just how the marketing department have spun it.

What was said was

"These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market and their unique design of the hardware, the underlying operating system and the live service layer create one of the most compelling platforms to reimagine game mechanics," he states.

Highest end pc on the market. That's the part that shows it really is complete bullshit.

I just don't get why EA says these kind of lies? Are people that technologically inept to not understand how pcs really work......Im starting to get scared of my fellow humans.....De-Ting hold me!

"As Destructoid points out, the "hype train is at full speed now the Xbox One and PS4 are both public knowledge, and Electronic Arts is riding first class." The article reads like one big advertisement for the publisher, and may even come across as offensive to those who know consoles will never surpass PC… unless the PC is extinct, of course. Nvidia said there will always be a place for the high-end desktop, and we're right there with them in that opinion.

Why? It should be obvious: the PC market continues to progressively advance whereas new consoles are launched every five or so years. If anything, it's the mobile industry that the PC and console sectors should be worried about, as its advancement slope if by far a lot steeper than the PC segment. That said, until we actually get our hands on both consoles, or at least see the actual full list of specs, we're going to remain highly skeptical of EA's claims regarding next-gen versus PC."

He's simply trying to confuse the ignorant, because he knows that consoles are dying. One day, we'll have PCs that are marketed and sold as 'gaming computers' that come equip with software that looks and behaves like a console, and he's afraid of that.

You mean the Steam Box, probably coming out before 2015?

Because you can do that right now. Buy a prebuilt computer, install steam and plug a wireless xbox controller adapter in. Click the Big Picture thing, and suddenly your PC is literally a console.
Only all the games are cheaper and you can mod anything you don't like out of games. The 30FPS cap in L.A Noire comes to mind.

Also, nude mods.
