I have and will continue to have a place in my heart for Nintendo. In fact, my first console was a Super Nintendo. The video game market has changed drastically since the early '90s and it seems like what once was platinum is more so along the lines of silver now. Nintendo has always been...

Its going to be in The Witcher 3

You now I'm excited new games like tomb raider and the witcher 3 are putting in real hair physx but it kinda gives the impression that everyone has super clean perfect hair. Like everyone used shampoo and conditioner that morning. I remember in tomb raider her hair would still look perfect even after being in muddy water.

Still cool though.

I prefer AMD myself, ever since I got the border high-end 7770 installed (border because it's just one small step away from high-end 7800 series), I have had little trouble with current gen titles. That's because when I compared the benchmarking data of the cards, AMD offered a lot more power for much less money. Of course, I have to sacrifice the fancy physix stuff but I get prettier and smoother picture out of it.

And I also have bad memories about Nvidia. I used to have Geforce 6600GT back in the day and it broke down 6-7 times in couple of years! The shop even gave me a brand new replacement every time. Then I finally switched to Radeon series and no problem what so ever to this day. But when I build my next PC (which might be sooner than later!), which will most definitely be high-end stuff through and through, I think I'll try Nvidia once again for the fancy Physix and hair stuff. I love that wolf.

PS Is it just me or does the first graph really show that next gen PC graphics card are going to be more than double the power of next gen consoles? Didn't Sony propaganda say that their console is above high-end PC? Intel recently announced a new gen of processors which have built in graphics core which has triple the power of current integrated graphics solutions. And Nvidia has new cards up their sleeves which are ridiculously powerful. I knew PS4s "rule" is not going to stay for long but it might end before Sony even launches the console. Confused

Ive used both AMD and Nvidia cards. Recently amd went through a terrible driver phase(Its improved) and I started playing games with physx in them. Battlefield 3 also ran better on nvidia than amd(Special codepath for only nvidia is the rumor)
Nvidia and especially sli has better frame time variance than amd or its crossfire which can make lag between frames a lot more noticeable. Im sure this can be fixed with improved drivers.
Amd was nice enough to include tessfx in tomeraider for anyone to use thats hardware accelerated. You can run physx on amd cards but it isn't hardware accelerated.
High end amd cards have greater computational power if your into virtual currency mining but that doesn't always translate into better fps in games.

And yes it is absolutely true that top of the line gpus are twice as powerful as the gpus in the next gen consoles. The next gen consoles are the equivalent power of a low range high end pc.(Still amazing deal at $400) They will be able to play next gen games at 30fps. Console players as a general rule don't know details about hardware so its easy for console makers or devs to say its more powerful than a high end pc but thats just a marketing lie to make people think their new console they bought is uber powerful and will be relevant for years.

Intels new onboard gpu does surprisingly well, Its the equivalent of what current gen consoles can pull off. Nvidia just released Tegra 4 which is their mobile chip and it does amazingly well in Nvidia shield, Nvidias handheld android device/streaming gaming device. This brings up the interesting notion that if we go by last console generation cycle which was 8 years, that onboard gpus will quickly catch up to next gen consoles in 4-6 years and mobile chips will give next gen consoles serious competition. I imagine sony will jump on and make a next gen vita that plays ps4 games without sacrificing quality. Specially with the consoles using pc architectures it will be very easy for devs to get their games to run across multiple devices.

Yeah, the true threat to the PS4 isn't PC gaming or other consoles. It's 2015, when we'll have tablets with the same hardware power as the PS4, able to play the same game with 128gb MicroSD cards. It won't look good for consoles when a dev realizes they can port the full version of their PS4 over to a tablet with a small resolution drop and make tons of money.
Then every other dev will do it, and then we'll see games launching on PC, PS4 and Android at the same time with roughly the same gameplay and graphics.

Then we'll have to hack and modify the shit out of the crappy PC port to get some better graphics and remove the 30FPS.

Again.
Fucking consoles, holding back PC gaming. Imagine how incredible games could be if the PC engine was developed properly. Maybe we could see games that don't have 80 or 110FPS walls, no matter the hardware power.

I'm also gonna buy a 9800GT soon and try me some PhysX hacks. If i can get it working with my 6870 i'll be nice and happy, especially for dat fur physics.

Nvidia has disabled the ability to run a nvidia phsyx card with a amd gpu card.

You could try to hack the drivers, its just not as easy as plopping it in and installing the drivers anymore.
