What do you really expect of a shooter these days? Loadout probably already has it somewhere in gobs of gameplay, but you won’t hear me saying it’s worth your time.

"DirectX 11.2 promises to bring a host of new features such as the new "Tiled Resources" technique that will (unsurprisingly) be exclusive to the Xbox One and Windows 8.1."

Still not downgrading.

Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the entire point of having dedicated graphics memory to make things faster?
I was under the impression GDDR5 was orders of magnitude quicker than DDR3?

Pointless gimmicks by Microsoft to try and sound impressive. I've been doing this for many years with my integrated intel GPUs.

It would be useful on tech with a low amount of VRAM. Maybe help modders load super large ,ultra high resolution textures packs into DX11.2 games
The thing is I thought when you run out of VRAM that systems already offloaded that extra data to system memory. Maybe this somehow just manages it better?

The other improvements in dx11.2 are nice

reduced delay for applications run on top of an API, pre-compiling of HLSL shaders, GPU overlay support and frame buffer scaling.

http://community.bingads.microsoft.com/ads/en/bingads/b/blog/archive/2013/07/02/new-search-ad-experiences-within-windows-8-1.aspx

"Bing Ads will be an integral part of this new Windows 8.1 Smart Search experience. Now, with a single campaign setup, advertisers can connect with consumers across Bing, Yahoo! and the new Windows Search with highly relevant ads for their search queries."

Nope. Nope nope nope nope.

Go fuck yourself, MS. Looks like it's gonna be back to linux with me when Win7 support goes.

Windows 8.1 will have a startmenu button back but it will continue to only bring up metro and win8 interfaces. You can right click it at any time to toggle between metro and the desktop.

But no, it won't be bringing back the old startmenu interface, WHICH IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT!

Direct X 10 was exclusive to Vista, why do you suddenly think anything is different?

Exactly, I don't see why this is such a big deal. By the time games regularly use DX11.2, most people will have the newest version of windows. The ones who complain about this are likely to pirate windows anyway.

I'm against the ads 100%, though. You already paid (supposedly) for the damn OS, why would I have ads shoved down my throat? With that said, targeted ads are a good thing, the main problem with ads is that people never get relevant advertisements about things they care about. If your crotch is itching excessively, I would think you would like to know about something to cure that itch. However I never seen targeted ads really work correctly, and advertisements have no business being inside of an OS that you have to pay to use. That crap is as retarded as ads on cable TV.
