In a world dominated by violent media, Americans are no more eager to go to war than they were in the 1980s or the 1960s or the 1940s. Hasn't it always been someone else's problem? The overwhelming majority would rather go on thinking it had nothing to do with them and there...

It did earlier today. I didn't like bioshock 1 and 2 but I really enjoyed Bioshock 3. You should get it.

Pretty much right after the game was released for PC.

So I should have probably waited for the Steam sale - I wasn't expecting BL2's Season Pass to go on sale, so I bought it plus the full game for $15 the other day.

Oh well, I guess that got Eyebrows his copy of the game that way.

Kinda disappointing this year really. It's probably because we're spoiled with the likes of greenman and Amazon. Still managed to pick up a few bargains. It's difficult sometimes to know whether to buy something, or wait and hope it becomes a daily deal.

By the way, Hotline Miami for two quid is just astounding. Anyone who doesn't have it, should get it.

I've bought a bunch of mostly indie games so far, mostly because I have all of the big budget games I want for now. Sure, I could buy borderlands 2, but I'm not going to be getting around to playing it for quite a while. Might as well wait until the next sale when it's probably even cheaper.

If you don't know how to Steam sale, here are the cardinal rules:

If it isn't 75% or more off, don't bother. It'll flash sale or daily sale.
The best deals aren't on the front page.
Developer packs are the best way to get a bunch of games for not that much.

Right now $5.00 will get you Hotline Miami and Faster Than Light. Both have cards too so you can make some of that money back if you'd like. Get on that!

I'm a little peeved that the developer packs aren't as easy to find as they used to be (as in, not being obvious on the front page). That being said, yesterday I went through all of the publisher catalogs yesterday, and ended up buying one thing, mostly for nostalgia. I think I've bought most of the older games I have much interest in at this point.

Overall though, it just doesn't feel like the experience it used to be. Most of the deals have been matched or bettered elsewhere and this card and badge rubbish is astoundingly silly. Coupled with their continued inability to provide working servers and it's all a bit meh. My point is, though there are doubtless some great games at some great prices available, the days of the Steam sales being something to really look forward to are more or less over.

Perhaps I'm overreacting and they'll prove me wrong by focusing mainly on the games again. Here's hoping.

You know why it doesn't appeal to many people anymore? because people have bought ever since game the wanted thats on sale right now. As a person jumping into PC gaming this is always very exciting. :/

I can't get excited about the steam sales anymore. I keep spending all my money over at GoG because pre-2005 games have a tendency to run well on my laptop. Oh, Master of Orion 2 and Alpha Centauri, why must you make me lose so many hours?

Plus, i just don't like Steam. I've bought a bunch of games through it and it's not bad, but the steam DRM combined with having an application running over and above the game (over and above windows) makes me feel like i'm not getting the performance i should when i run my desktop. I keep trying to like it, but i just don't.

I was looking through the list and picked up The Last Remnant for $3.39. It's a slightly older game (2009) but I missed it the first time around. Plus, I'm a sucker for RPG's and for Square-Enix and at that price they are basically giving it away, so I figured why not.

I'm thinking of also picking up Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. It's gotten mixed reviews. A lot of people are saying it's a short and pretty repetitive game but I've always liked the old west setting and it's only $10. I'm still on the fence about that one.

There were a couple of others I was going to pick up but when I saw the 3rd party DRM I got pissed. I was looking for a sim/strategy type of game to add to my collection so first I was looking at that Anno 2070 game which is on sale for like $15. It looked very nice and seemed interesting, but upon reading up on the game saw that you have to sign up for that ubisoft uplay bullshit before you can play.

The other was Tropico 4, which is on sale now for only $5. But you have to sign up for a kalypso account (whatever the fuck that is) before you can play.

So they want you sign in to steam, then create another account, then sign in to their server on top of that? I wish I could shake these assholes sometimes. Steam is already DRM that I do not like but am forced to tolerate. Any additional DRM on top of that is an automatic Fuck you, no sale.

Borderlands 2 66% off including the season pass and DLCs?

Heck, i can even buy it for a poor buddy of mine too. Now to play the waiting game and wait for Xcom to be 75% off...

It's still on sale now, but I want it to drop below $20... because that's what I have in my wallet.
