The perils of the Hype Train…
By shandog137

The recent release of Evolve and The Order 1886 really got me to thinking about the disparity between the perspective of sales-driven publishers and the quality-driven purchases of consumers. The “Hype Train” is nothing new, but the way it is utilized has been creating far more...

I liked Infamous 1 and loved Infamous 2, but I have no interest in Second Son. Picking one ending and declaring the other one non-canon to make a sequel is a dick move, especially in this day and age. The evil ending to 2 was FUCKING AWESOME and now Sucker Punch is pretending it doesn't exist.

I'll put this one on the "ignore forever because it has no right to exist" list, along with Bioshock 2, Deus Ex: Invisible War and Final Fantasy X-2.

(spoilers)At least they won't retcon Cole's death. They have some semblance of honor.

Cough Dragon Age cough.

Though, it's either they do that, or they make the consequences of the endings absolutely identical. Which devalues the choice even more, since one way it's the canon/non-canon result, but it still has an effect. That's preferable to there being absolutely no choice since there is no consequence.

Cough Mass Effect cough.

It'd be cool to have sequels where you can either import your save data from the previous game, or choose between separate beginnings that continue from each respective ending of the previous game.

Yeah...

Exactly. That's why I consider Second Son shouldn't exist.
Besides, didn't the canon ending kill every single conduit in existence? It's one thing to declare one ending non-canon, it's another to retcon the other one.
(I know, again, *cough*dragonage*cough*)

I just hope the next Dragon Age will be more like Origins than 2 in terms of gameplay, but that's a long shot.

Damn, I was told that Infamous: Second Son was a launch title.

I guess I'll try and change my pre-order to either Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed IV. Maybe Watch Dogs.

Bump!
Anyways, I'm going to be a risk taker and get Knack as my launch game. Has GR done any previews with Knack, yet? It really looks appealing to me.

I couldn't care less about that game but I'm sure we'll have some coverage soon.

Infamous 1 and 2 were great games. But if I didn't get them both for free I probably wouldn't have even played them.

PS+ has spoiled me.
