If I had to describe Hob in a simple title it would be "Darksiders Jr." The title from Runic developers, whose prior games are the Torchlight series, were nervous about delivering a game that is so far from their comfort zone.

Windows 10 Review for Dummies
By Ivory_Soul

After all these years, and growing up with Windows 3.1, I have seen an entire evolution of computers and software. Touch screens and large resolutions were a pipe dream just 15 years ago. Now it's the norm. Going from a Packard Bell (yes, before HP) that couldn't run 3D Ultra Mini...

Haven't played it or read much of this thread but I really hope it has the depth of EQ2 still with the awesome crafting system, player housing, etc.

^From what I've seen it wont be much like EQ2 and more like SWG. The devs apparently want to bring back the player shops that existed in SWG.

This is dev hype, though. Final product will probably be a F2P WoW clone without the holy trinity. I hope I do get into the beta, though. I signed up a day after they first put the beta application up.

WoW clone with destructable environments, a cool sounding class system and F2P? I'll play.

Not sure how hardcore it'll be compared to EQ1 (I never played EQ2) but I hope they keep giant monsters roaming around that are tougher than the average mobs. There was just something so thrilling and epic about farming in the Desert of Ro or Plains of Karana and seeing a group of people join together to kill a roaming giant or griffon. Not to mention dragons, wyrms and wyverns in other zones.

I'm still butthurt over the fact that they dumbed down the betrayal quest in EQ2.

I remember having to camp one stupid mob for over 24 hours just to complete that betrayal quest. I installed the game at work to make sure I was there when he spawned. I also remember asking Lethean to log onto my account and camp when I wasn't able to. Also the killing 500 orcs in the commonlands, goddamn that was stupid. Nowhere near as bad as that stupid bugged mob I had to camp, though. I also had to travel across high level zones as a low level (I think I was level 18 at the time), which was a pain in the ass because everything wanted to and did kill me. All this while being affiliated with no fraction so I couldn't group with anyone and everyone who saw me could kill me.

All that just so I could have my QTπ high elf become a shadowknight and roam around the barren city of freeport. But you know what? It was rewarding, I felt damn proud to have one of the few High Elf shadowknights on my server.

Now, from what I understand, is that all you have to do is ask some NPC and you can faction change. Homosex.

Anyway, wtf is this rant about? Well, based on how SOE dumbed down EQ2, I do not think EQ Next will retain any of the difficulty that existed in the original everquest, which is a shame.

The lessening of the trinity worries me though. I know everyone feels like not having the trinity feels free, great, and liberating, but I actually kind of like the holy trinity after trying MMOs without it.

After playing GW2 for a while, I kind of came to the conclusion that I actually liked the holy trinity. Especially when it comes to PvP.

Sony sold off SOE and it has become Daybreak Games. They have laid off some of its staff including DAVE GEORGESON! Not good news for everquest next.

Steve Danuser, EverQuest Next’s lead content designer, tweeted about his departure.

Just heard about that ^

RIP.

Also to comment on holy trinity, I like it too. Having defined class roles makes me feel more engaged. Whereas GW2 I'm just spamming whatever, dodging here and there not even really paying attention until I need to hit a health skill, largely unconcerned if it heals my party or not since they can easily do it for themselves.
