Not long after its previous patch, the Anthem 1.04 update is here to regale us with plenty of quality-of-life changes to keep us plugging away in our Javelin suits that little while longer. The new Anthem update for PS4, Xbox One, and PC offers up a whole bunch to keep an eye on, so we’ll highlight everything you should be focusing on as well as providing you with the full Anthem 1.04 update patch notes down below.

Loot changes

The name of the game with the Anthem 1.04 update is undoubtedly the sweeping changes made to loot drops and its surrounding RNG goodness. Both white (uncommon) and green (common) drops are a thing of the past for everybody level 30 and above, meaning that once you hurtle towards the endgame, you’re more likely to get better gear, more quickly. It’s a small tweak, but one that rightly rewards those who have put in the early hours and have hit a loot-filled wall filled with disappointment and terrible gear.

Inscriptions

The RNG gods also seem fairly unkind to Inscriptions, the attribute and stat boosts that come equipped with better gear. That’s now getting a shake-up post 1.04, with Inscriptions now being better-suited to the items they’ve come attached to. Again, a minor change, but one that should avoid you picking up rubbish loot and giving yourself a headache over a grind that otherwise wouldn’t be worth it.

Inscriptions are now set to be handed out in a less generic fashion. Previously, Inscriptions would be under, for example, a “Weapons” category, and dished out as such. Now, there’s Inscriptions specifically for Assault Rifles, and so on.

And that’s your lot for this update! Understandably, nothing major hot on the heels of a couple of patches in the interim since release, but these are a few more steps in the right direction. The full patch notes are below.

Anthem 1.04 Update Patch Notes

Anthem 1.04 update

  • Inscriptions are now better for the items they are on

  • This applies to new items earned in Anthem (not existing ones in your Vault)
  • If an inscription applies only to the item it is on (gear icon), it will be useful to that item. Otherwise the inscription will provide a Javelin wide benefit
  • For example, an Assault Rifle will not have an item specific +pistol damage inscription. It may have a +electric damage suit wide inscription (cool for a lightning build)
  • Removed uncommon (white) and common (green) items from level 30 drop tables

  • We have reduced the crafting materials needed to craft a masterwork from 25 masterwork embers to 15 masterwork embers

  • As you salvage or harvest, you should be able to craft more masterwork items to get the inscriptions you are looking for

  • Now that inscriptions are more relevant to their item, this should yield better results for players
  • Current: There are a large pool of inscription options available to roll on items, the inscription pools are generic (e.g. Weapons)

  • Every masterwork item has 4 inscriptions – Major Primary, Minor Primary, Major Secondary, Minor Secondary

  • Change: Each item type now has a specific set of inscription options for each of their inscription pools. The pools are smaller and are targeted to the specific item type

  • E.g. there used to be a Weapon pool, now there is an Assault Rifle pool and the assault rifle pool has 4 pools for each of the inscription types listed above
  • Primary inscriptions are focused on damage or survivability
  • Any item specific inscriptions (gear icon) will always benefit the item they are on
  • Javelin wide inscriptions (suit icon) will benefit damage or survivability across the whole Javelin
  • Secondary inscriptions focus on utility and can be targeted to the item (gear icon) or the entire javelin (suit icon)
