So much more than war...
By shandog137

The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

Just bought a computer on Amazon a few hours ago, I kinda shopped around and couldn't find a better deal for my budget. After seeing Lethean's sticky about the upgrade questions, I wish I had come here first . But its too late now, so lemme know if yall think I got a good deal or not.
Heres the link to show the components: http://www.amazon.com/CybertronPC-Hellion-GM1213D-Desktop-Black/dp/B00D1KWRPC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382947601&sr=8-1&keywords=CybertronPC+Hellion+GM1213D+Desktop+%28Black%2FRed%29

My Budget was only 800 Dollars and I wanted to have room for the 3 year service warranty so this was pushing it a bit for me. (Im no BigTruckseries lol)
My monitor is pretty huge, im not sure exactly but id guess 22" diagonally. Also I was wondering if Id just be able to run it on my 36" led tv? It would be cool to play games on a bigger screen like my console.
Overclocking - I don't know how, or if its even possible in my situation. I doubt I have the cooling ability

I decided to wait on the new consoles, and haven't had a decent computer for 6 or 7 years now, so any advice you could give me would be awesome Smile I'm looking forward to maybe playing some Battlefield 4 with yall soon.

All the components look good for the price, and it looks like a standard tower. What the kicker will be is the motherboard. That is usually where the sacrifice performance for the price, and the specs are not listed.

You should be fine running it on the TV with an HDMI cable.

Pretty much everything besides Windows 8 is better than what I got, and I paid more.

Don't imagine you could get better than that without ordering the parts and building your own. So yeah, I'd say it's pretty good for the price. Like Madster said, the motherboard is usually where they cut the most corners.

Needs more Windows 7 SP1 64bit.
You should also be able to overclock the GPU with MSI Afterburner

Sorry to say, the graphics card is pretty poor, I would go as far to say that you'd be lucky to have Battlefield at playable FPS on the lowest settings with it.

GT640 isn't that bad. Should do 1366x768 with mainly medium settings for most games.

Wouldn't a 22 inch monitor be 1680x1050? Although looking at benchmarks (http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/612/), it's maybe not as bad as I first thought but still not good.

Yeah, but if he does the TV route, most of them run at 1366x768 as their 'native' for some reason.

Hmm, the CPU isn't future proofed. It's fairly mid-end and AMDs don't shine with performance. They do shine with budget friendly price tag but Intel's last couple of generations blows them out of water.

In good time, Captain. In good time.

Post a list of your Steam Library. Let's test some shit. I'll install if it's multiplayer. December will be slow.

Sorry Captain. Are you able to send it back? The Cybertron PC 5150 Unleashed II that shows under 'Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed', is a better balanced system for me (the 7770 HD graphics card is much better than the 640) and is in the same price range.

Honestly, sell the 640 and at the very least get a GTX 660 or a Radeon 7850 as opposed to picking up another 640.

Your PSU should be fine if you replace the card. Would probably need to change it if you add a second card.
