Yesterday, while cleaning up my media center, I found my copy of Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus, which I bought sometime before Christmas last year. I had been pretty excited about this game pre-release, what with it being the first "traditional", albeit shorter than usual,...

Crysis

GR’s Report Card
geoff_hunt

A-
+ Fantastic graphics
+ Delightful physics model
+ Classy UI
+ Tight controls
+ Lots of ways to solve situations
- Halo 2 style ending
- Poor Story

#69
Vanquish

Sam is a badass, in a badass suit, in a badass future, shooting hoards of badass aliens, while a cute girl in a mini-skirt helps you out. Oh it’s also really fun and incredibly addictive. With awesome characters and gameplay this gem sits at #69, probably the best spot on the list amirite?

GR’s Report Card
Josh_Laddin

B+
+ Crazy cool style
+ Great speed-altering mechanics
+ Awesome vistas and set pieces
+ Well-integrated upgrade system
+ Cool boss fights
- …that have a habit of repeating
+/- Cheesy plot, dialogue, and VA
- Yup, it's short
- No multiplayer

#68
Sound Shapes

A quirky indie game; Sound Shapes has you side scrolling through platforming mayhem while collecting notes that ultimately build your soundtrack. Each composer who lends their musical strength (including Beck and DeadMau5) offer a different take that feels fresh and original. But the real fun comes from creating your own levels. Whether you enjoy creating music or level design, Sound Shapes has got you covered.

GR’s Report Card
danielrbischoff

5/5 (damn straight!)
+ Creating my own levels
+ ...I can't believe that's fun
+ Campaign packed with unlockables
+ Challenge modes after completion
- A little on the short side still
+ Tons and tons of user-created levels
- Even people make garbage sometimes
+ Not having to sort through that garbage
+ Style, sounds, art
+ Buy it once for both PS3 and Vita

#67
Rayman Origins

You don’t mess with the Ray, man! What separates this game from other platformers is it’s look, it’s just beautiful to feast your eyes on this platformer. Proving once and for all that videogames are indeed art, and zombie grandma’s are indeed weird.

GR’s Report Card
danielrbischoff

A
+ Platforming greatness
+ Rayman, center stage
+ Gorgeous 2D graphics
+ Replayability
+ Side-scrolling shooter levels
+ Couch co-op with two to four players
- But no online?
+ Never frustrating, always exciting

#66
Spelunky

GR’s Report Card
KevinS

4.5/5
+ Nostalgic but new!
+ Graphics are simple and beautiful
+ Controls are simple and spot-on
+ Difficulty is way up there in the best way possible
- Multiplayer is half-assed

#65
Castle Crashers

This beat em up is a colourful ride full of absurd humour and chaos. After some bad dudes interrupt your kick-ass party, you’re thrust into war. Battle your way to the mighty wizard who stole your crystal and make out with some kidnapped princesses along the way. With a wide range of different characters to choose from and a simple yet impressive leveling system, prepare for a quest like none other!

GR’s Report Card
David_Supina

B+
+ Level-up RPG twist
+ Smashing things (and people) is fun!
+ Spectacularly quirky and humorous visuals
+ Ideal for co-op, but also great for single-player
- Magic attacks are useless at the start
- Co-op play on vastly different character levels
- Difficulty lining up foes

#64
Just Cause 2

GR’s Report Card
Jesse_Costantino

B+
+ Stupid fun
+ Smart setting
+ Grappling hook + parachute = love
+ Big on content
- Low on mission variety
- Stiff vehicles

#63
Braid

GR’s Report Card
David_Supina

A-
+ Ingenious design
+ Both game and art
+ Well-crafted puzzles
+ Gorgeous scenery
+ Only $15
- Very short

#62
Xenoblade Chronicles

Not rated on GR

#61
Dishonored

GR’s Report Card
Nick_Tan

4.5/5
+ Swift transition between action and stealth
+ ...and magic too
+ Challenging, even on easy
+ Arresting art direction
+ Level design supports plenty of options
+ Rich dialogue, great voice-acting
- Some polishing issues
- Ending is a tad brief

I love how unnatural this feels. Like some of the games right next to one another are just awesome. This list is great.

I'm surprised Xenoblade isn't rated on GR, and keep up the awesome work Wicked!

#60
Limbo

To call Limbo creepy would be putting it lightly. This puzzle platformer tells the story of a boy who wakes up in an eerie black and white world as he figures out where he is and how to save his sister. The game is full of jump scares as the boy dies, and dies, and dies. Trial and Error is necessary to navigate through this world of fatal traps. But the real fear comes from the unsettling atmosphere and overwhelming dread. If you missed out on this downloadable then you better make some space on your console.

GR’s Report Card
Chris_Hudak

A-
+ Brilliant overall audiovisual presentation
+ Entertaining, ever-evolving puzzles
+ Grim, grinning, uber-low-key, grisly humor
+ 'Replay value' of watching other players
+ Affirmation of the indie-game industry
+ Surprisingly solid, responsive, reliable physics
+/- Value aside, probably not a good 'fit' for Little Timmy
- There's more than a little inherent Try-and-Die
- Still a tad on the 'short' side
- Comes to an abrupt (and ambiguous) ending

#59
Left 4 Dead 2

ZOOOOOMBIES! Everyone loves zombies, except for the buzz kills, don’t mind them. Left 4 Dead continued the carnage from the first game; amping up the weapons and zombies. Just remember people are listening to you so don’t scream too embarrassingly.

GR’s Report Card
Jesse_Costantino

B
+ Co-op goodness
+ More weapons and zombies
+ Great setting
+ Fun alternate play modes
- Toned down AI Direction
- Cranked up difficulty settings
- Less tension

#58
Catherine

Catherine is one of those WTF games that is so weird you’d figure even Japan would think of it as odd… Meh, probably not. The game is heavy on the plot, and like other Atlus games it takes you by the hand and guides you through the story before you feel like you actually have any control. But, like other Atlus games, it’s got a great story to tell. You play as Vincent, a man caught in a love triangle with his girlfriend Katherine and his one night stand Catherine, all while suffering from bizarre dreams that involve you maneuvering your way through puzzle blocks in your underwear surrounded by talking sheep. WTF? What does it all mean? Play it and see!

GR’s Report Card
Nick_Tan

A-
+ Challenging block puzzles
+ Mature, provocative, dark story
- ...that could be better integrated
+ Branching paths, multiple endings
+ Excellent cel-shaded graphics
+ Contemporary
- Some control issues

#57
The Witcher

GR’s Report Card
Chris_Hudak

B
+ Dark, bleak style
+ Timed, anti-spaz combat
+ Convincing world
- Heap-big load times
- Some disjointed cinema/dialogue
- Some glitches

#56
Assassin’s Creed II

GR’s Report Card
Duke_Ferris

A-
+ Jaw-dropping beauty
+ Real historical figures and events
+ Great characters and story
+ Precise, exciting gameplay
- A.I. issues
- That damn, ugly HUD

#55
No More Heroes

GR’s Report Card
Jesse_Costantino

B+
+ Viscerally satisfying combat
+ Lots of style
+ Great sense of humor
+ Meta-gaming at its best
+/- Weird graphical issues
+/- Potentially annoying control problems
- Not to everyone’s taste

#54
Borderlands 2

GR’s Report Card
Nick_Tan

4.5/5
+ More improvements than you can shake your fist at
+ Speedier movement and loading times
+ Retains tongue-in-cheek humor
+ Added abilities for weapons and accessories
+ New slag element encourages teamwork
+ Badass tokens and Claptrap storage works across characters
+ Proficient cel-shaded graphics
- Designed more as Borderlands 1.5
- Issues with "fight for your life" state
- What happened to the zoom stat?

#53
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

GR’s Report Card
Danielrbischoff

B+
+ The journey...
+ The fighting...
+ And the visuals...
- ...are hampered by poor cameras
- ...and poor frame rates.
+ Completely validates Castlevania in 3D

#52
Dragon Age: Origins

GR’s Report Card
Nick_Tan

A-
+ Enhanced classic BioWare gameplay
+ Epic storyline and personable characters
+ Tactics system
+ Lots of conversational humor
+ Rich culture, history, and religion
+ More than 50 hours of content
+/- Pristine graphics, for the PC at least
+/- Class-based combat is rigid
- Unpolished in spots

#51
Donkey Kong Country Returns

Are you ready to go Ape for video games? Hahahaha… hahah. Ahhhh… (ahem) DKC Returns takes us back to the SNES days, you know, like every other friggin Wii game. But hey now, DKC was awesome-sauce, and if you think awesome-sauce is not professional you clearly don’t understand it is way too late for me to be writing this. Look, just don’t screw with a Gorilla wearing a tie.

GR’s Report Card
Josh_Laddin

A-
+ Gameplay is amazingly true to DKC
+ Visually charming world
+ New elements mesh with old
+ Tough as nails, like it should be
+ Completists will be busy for a while
+ Cool co-op
- …but no Diddy control in solo
- Where my Kremlings at?
