Battlefield 5 Firestorm release date trailer focuses on battle royale fun

Battlefield 5 Firestorm release date trailer has revealed the battle royale mode’s launch day. The reveal trailer focuses on the game’s unique vehicles. From a tractor pulling a turret to an amphibious vehicle. We see all the tropes of a chaotic battle royale mode, sprinting for loot, multiplayer mayhem, and a tense final showdown are all here.

The Battlefield 5 Firestorm release date trailer concludes with the announcement that the mode will be out on March 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Firestorm will include squads and solo modes in 64-player matches. The Battlefield 5 website states “work as a team to unlock high-risk, high-reward Objectives … while exploring a map ten times larger than Hamada.” The mode has 17 types of vehicles. “Tanks, towable cannons, a prototype helicopter, and even the coveted tractor,” all of which are shown off in this latest trailer. The website also states that duos will be introduced in April as part of the “Chapter 3: Trial by Fire” update.

The Firestorm reveal trailer itself is a fast-paced, almost story-based, trailer showing players just how Dice and Criterion Games intend to tackle battle royale. The trailer starts off with a set of characters dropping before panickily charged for loot when the spot an opposing team. Gun-fire and disorder then ensue. The characters look extremely pleased to have found a tactical-looking helicopter. They proceed to use it to pursue a boat, a boat which is revealed to also be a car as the chase goes on.

We then get to see the mode’s titular Firestorm, the game’s version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds enclosing gas. From the trailer, the Firestorm appears to destroy the environment as it encloses towards the players, whether this will be in the playable mode itself is uncertain. The Firestorm reveal trailer ends with players working together to open a secret garage, we see a shadow of a presumably intimidating vehicle.

We recently looked into what effect battle royale games like Firestorm and Apex Legends may be having on single player games. EA has recently commented on the potential competition between their two battle royale titles.
