The Division 2 How to Cancel Skills

While Skills in The Division 2 can prove to be the difference between mission success and failure, they do take quite a long time to reload once used.

Take the drone, for example. Once activated, the Drone Striker will last for a decent amount of time. After it has either deactivated or been shot down, however, it takes more than a couple of minutes to reload and become available for use again. This isn’t helpful if you activate it for a few enemies, only to find you needed it later to help take down even more. You’ll be stuck between a rock and a hard place in this situation, no matter which Skill you’ve activated.

Thankfully, there is a way to speed the reload process up and reduce cooldown time. For any Skill that lasts for a set amount of time, you don’t need to wait for it to deactivate automatically (or for it to get destroyed). You can cancel Skills in The Division 2. Holding down the same button (for a few seconds) as you called the Skill in with will deactivate it (R1/RB on PS4 and Xbox One).

This allows it to start reloading as soon as you cancel it, which will cut down your waiting time. As soon as you have dealt with all the enemies there are, cancel your active Skills. They should, hopefully, be ready to use for the next stage of enemies.

Skill Mods may well decrease the reload time between repeated use of Skills, too. You unlock the ability to equip these once you reach Level 11.
