Focus Home Interactive and Dontnod Entertainment renew partnership, announce new project

It was announced today via press release that Focus Home Interactive and Dontnod Entertainment will renew their partnership and are working on a brand new title. This new project “promises to be one of the most ambitious in the history of the publisher and the studio.”

Of course, the two companies first came together to create Vampyr, a game that garnered mixed reviews from critics but was ambitious nonetheless. The title premiered in June of last year and went on to sell 1 million copies in just ten months. Despite critics’ opinions, Vampyr was a hit with players. The two companies are looking to bet on their audience once again.

John Bert, COO of Focus Home Interactive, commented on the collaboration:

“We are delighted to continue the adventure with the team at DONTNOD who have already amply demonstrated their talents to create rich universes, enhanced by a masterful narrative and unique artistic direction. We are proud to once again allow the talent of the studio to express itself on this new project which is intended to be among the most ambitious in the history of FOCUS and DONTNOD.”

Dotnnod is a French indie studio that focuses on “AA” experiences. The studio is famous for Life is Strangeits sequel, and Remember Me. They’re an interesting group, as critics never seem to love Dontnod’s games, yet they always seem to grow a cult following. One can’t argue that these projects are standout, however, which adds to their charm even if they aren’t perfect.

Dontnod CEO Oskar Guilbert also had some kind words to share. “We are excited to be strengthening our successful relationship with FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE,” he says. Guilbert is a fan of Focus Home’s “effective marketing” and the company’s skills in digital distribution. “Vampyr is a great success,” he continues, “[and] we are very happy to develop this partnership with this exciting new project.”

In other Focus Home news, both Vampyr and Call of Cthulhu are coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year. The former launched on both consoles and PC, with the latter out in October 2018 on the same platforms. Gamers can reasonably expect this new title to launch on the same platforms, though we’ve seen no information on it just yet.
